Ensuring Indigenous people have a seat at the economic table in energy transition (#RETI) and infrastructure projects.

About us

Project Reconciliation is a transformative initiative committed to ensuring that Indigenous people have a rightful seat at the economic table in energy transition (#RETI) and infrastructure projects. Our mandate revolves around three distinct and independent initiatives, each aimed at empowering Indigenous communities and driving equitable economic participation. 1. Reconciliation Energy Transition Inc. (#RETI): As an independent and privately owned development company, #RETI is dedicated to fostering material Indigenous ownership in Canada's emerging low-carbon energy transition economy. By facilitating material Indigenous participation and representation in this sector, we strive to reshape the energy landscape while advancing sustainable development. 2. Reconciliation Inc. (Rec inc.): Our proposal for 100% Indigenous ownership of Trans Mountain Corp., known as Rec inc., seeks to redefine the narrative surrounding major infrastructure projects. This initiative advocates for Indigenous voices to be heard and valued in decision-making processes, ensuring that Indigenous communities have a significant say and ownership in projects that directly impact their lands and livelihoods. 3. Indigenous Sovereign Wealth Fund (ISWF): Recognizing the importance of capital in empowering Indigenous communities, Project Reconciliation is committed to the creation of the Indigenous Sovereign Wealth Fund. This fund will channel Indigenous capital towards sustainable investments, fostering inter-generational wealth creation and long-term economic prosperity for Indigenous nations. Our framework for Indigenous inter-generational wealth creation is designed to support nations in transitioning from managing poverty to managing wealth. Join us on this transformative journey as we work towards a future where Indigenous communities have an active and influential role in shaping the economic landscape. Together, we can build a more inclusive, equitable, and prosperous Canada.

🧡 Today, on Canada’s National Day for Truth and Reconciliation, we reflect on the resilience, dignity, and strength of residential school survivors, their families, and their communities. We also remember the children who never came home, honoring their memory and the ongoing journey of healing and reconciliation. This day answers one of the Truth and Reconciliation Commission’s 94 Calls to Action, which urges the federal government, in collaboration with Indigenous Peoples, to establish this statutory holiday. It ensures that the history and legacy of residential schools remain a vital part of the reconciliation process. At Project Reconciliation, we are deeply committed to fostering economic reconciliation, guided by the principles of Free, Prior, and Informed Consent and the TRC Calls to Action. On this day, and every day, we stand in solidarity with Indigenous Peoples, committed to creating a future where justice, respect, and true reconciliation are realized. Let’s take time today to reflect, learn, and continue the work toward healing and understanding. #NDTR #TruthAndReconciliation #EveryChildMatters #ProjectReconciliation #ResidentialSchoolSurvivors

🌞 Today, on National Indigenous Peoples Day, we honor the rich culture, heritage, and contributions of Indigenous communities across Canada. For generations, Indigenous groups have celebrated this day, coinciding with the summer solstice, the longest day of the year. This significant day, originally proclaimed as National Aboriginal Day in 1996 by then Governor General Roméo LeBlanc, has evolved through the years thanks to the tireless advocacy of Indigenous leaders and communities. From the Assembly of First Nations' call for a National Aboriginal Solidarity Day in 1982 to the renaming as National Indigenous Peoples Day in 2017, this day stands as a testament to the enduring strength and vibrant cultures of Indigenous Peoples. At Project Reconciliation, we are deeply committed to economic reconciliation, fostering meaningful Indigenous ownership and partnership in Canada's energy transition. Our mission aligns with the principles of Free, Prior, and Informed Consent, and we strive to uphold the TRC Calls to Action, ensuring that Indigenous voices are integral to shaping our collective future. 📚 We encourage everyone to take this opportunity to learn more about the histories, cultures, and contributions of Indigenous Peoples. 🌟 Today, we extend our heartfelt appreciation to Erin Collins and Josh McLean at CBC News for amplifying our Chairman Robert Morin's voice and highlighting Project Reconciliation's pivotal role in Indigenous ownership of Trans Mountain. 💼 "The one thing that we all agree on, we do deserve a share of the revenue based off the resources being sold on our territory. What these initiatives are trying to change are those economic opportunities for the respective First Nations to share in the revenue base. Every First Nation has managed poverty since the signing of treaties and since the establishment of this country. That has to change," emphasizes Chairman Morin. 🌿 With Trans Mountain ownership, we're not merely talking about profits; we're discussing empowerment. Indigenous communities deserve a say in safeguarding our environment and shaping our collective future. 🌱 Through the Indigenous Sovereign Wealth Fund, we're securing generational prosperity, ensuring financial stability for today and tomorrow. Our model prioritizes transparent dialogue and respect for Indigenous rights, empowering communities through informed decision-making. 💼 Our unique approach guarantees equitable equity interest for participating Indigenous Nations, fostering collaboration and collective knowledge. By creating a new economic table for Indigenous voices, economic reconciliation becomes the path to true reconciliation. 🌊 With majority ownership, Indigenous communities gain control over environmental stewardship, ensuring the protection of our land for future generations. Our collaborative governance structures, incorporating Indigenous ways of knowing, benefit all Canadians. 💰 Notably, Indigenous communities won't require any upfront community money to purchase Trans Mountain. Bonds secured by tolls will be utilized, with approximately $430 million in annual revenue available to all communities after debt and operational costs are covered. 👏 Thank you CBC News, for shedding light on this transformative journey towards economic sovereignty and reconciliation. Together, we're paving the way for a brighter future for Indigenous communities across Canada. #ProjectReconciliation #IndigenousOwnership #TransMountain #EconomicSovereignty #IndigenousEmpowerment 🌟 https://lnkd.in/gCeyPG2H
