Thank you to Economic Development Winnipeg for inviting us to the The Winnipeg Chamber of Commerce Luncheon on Enhancing the Ecosystem for Entrepreneurial Innovation #wccbiz. Today's discussions were incredibly timely as ProteinMB prepares to Facilitate an Innovation Roundtable this November. Dharmesh Gandhi opened with the inspiring quote, "A rising tide lifts all boats". Conversations over lunch with Economic Development Winnipeg, North Forge, Manitoba Technology Accelerator, Launch Coworking Space, and RRC Polytech's Prairie Research Kitchen, echoed this sentiment, emphasizing Manitoba’s collaborative ecosystem as a critical advantage we must continue to leverage. At ProteinMB’s upcoming Innovation Roundtable, we’ll delve into the current state of innovation across the province, exploring our strengths and identifying opportunities. Dharmesh also underscored the significance of Manitoba’s discretionary and legislative incentives, which foster innovation and sustainability, particularly in clean tech and clean manufacturing. He emphasized that the key to enhancing productivity lies in digital transformation—leveraging AI and integrating technology to drive sustainable growth. Congratulations to Kevin Selch on the position of Winnipeg Board Chair. We would love to discuss protein opportunities in the beer world!

Congratulations to Bioscience Association Manitoba for another successful year and event. A few weeks ago, we had the chance to spend some time at the Reclaiming Our Youth Conference, and it was such a rewarding experience! Last week, our board member Dori Gingera-Beauchemin and program facilitator, Sasha Roth-Masson, had the chance to attend the Canadian Agri-Food Policy Institute’s (CAPI) "Canadian Agri-Food in a Sustainable World" event in Ottawa. Day 1 was all about conversations on public policy and sustainable agriculture here in Canada, along with a global view. We heard from leaders across the agri-food spectrum, growers, producers, SMEs, big global companies, and government reps, who shared their thoughts on how sustainability can go from being a challenge to a real opportunity. It’s clear the agri-food industry has a big role to play in shaping the future, and finding that balance between environmental, social, and economic sustainability will be key while focusing on the value chain. Day 2, hosted by the Centre for Agri-Food Benchmarking, jumped into ESG (environmental, social, governance) and how we can actually measure sustainability. The National Index on Agri-Food Performance was introduced as a collaborative tool that could help bring the industry together and show the world that Canada is leading the way in sustainable agri-food.
