The company was mandated to direct the relaunch of the Bloom Lake Mine, a Champion Iron flagship project in Fermont, northern Quebec. Des membres de notre équipe du Lac Bloom ont chaussé leurs espadrilles en fin de semaine pour l’événement Run for the Hills 2024 organisé par le Menihek Nordic Ski Club!👟🏃♂️ Plus de 200 parents et enfants de Labrador West et de Fermont ont eu l’occasion de bouger en nature lors de cet événement familial, auquel MFQ est fière de prendre part chaque année. Bravo à tous les participants!

La Conférence État du fer au Québec, organisée par Ressources Mines & Industrie, est un rendez-vous incontournable pour les joueurs de notre industrie. Elle nous permet de nous réunir, d’explorer les meilleures pratiques et d’innover ensemble. Cette année, en plus de faire une présentation sur l’importance de valoriser nos ressources en fer de haute pureté, David Cataford a pris part à une discussion sur les défis et opportunités que représente le développement de la filière de l’acier vert aux côtés de Patrick Beauchesne, Ian Morissette, Claudine Pagé et Dominic Toupin. Parallèlement, Alexandre Belleau et Angela Kourouklis, CRIA, MBA, ASC, C.Dir. ont abordé respectivement la disponibilité de l’énergie renouvelable et les défis liés à la main-d’œuvre pour le développement minier lors de panels aux côtés d’autres experts.

L’un de nos employés a reçu une mention d’honneur de Simon Jolin-Barrette, ministre de la Justice, pour un geste de bravoure posé en mai 2021. Jimmy Côté est technicien en télécommunication et réseautique à notre site minier du Lac Bloom. En mai 2021, il a sauvé son père de la noyade en mettant sa propre vie en péril. Joël Crépeau, notre directeur technique, Projets et innovation, a participé à MINExpo INTERNATIONAL 2024 à Las Vegas dans le Pavillon du Québec d’Invest Quebec | Investissement Québec International. Lors d'un panel, il a notamment pu mettre en lumière comment l'avancée des technologies numériques fait évoluer nos façons de faire. Il a également offert des perspectives sur l’avenir et la manière dont l’autonomie, l’efficacité et la numérisation redéfinissent notre industrie.

🌟La fin de semaine dernière avait lieu l'inauguration de la nouvelle Yourte à Matimekush-Lac John, un espace de rassemblement conçu pour aider les jeunes de la communauté à relever les défis qui se présentent à eux. La Yourte permettra, entre autres, de participer à des ateliers de prévention dans la lutte contre les dépendances. Notre vice-présidente sénior, Ressources humaines, Angela Kourouklis, CRIA, MBA, ASC, C.Dir., et notre chef de service – Relations avec les Premières Nations, Dave Vollant, étaient présents pour l’événement. Nous sommes heureux d’avoir pu soutenir ce projet qui tient à cœur à nos partenaires innus et l’ensemble de la communauté.
