Gender-based violence (GBV) continues to be a grave issue worldwide, despite ongoing efforts from advocacy groups, governments, and civil society. The tragic loss of Rebecca Cheptegei and others like her is a stark reminder that this violence remains a deeply entrenched problem, and it calls for even stronger collective action. GBV affects people of all backgrounds and takes many forms—physical, emotional, sexual, and economic violence—often targeting women and girls disproportionately. What makes it even more troubling is how normalized or overlooked it can be in some communities, perpetuating a cycle of harm and fear. Advocacy has made some strides in raising awareness and providing support to survivors, but systemic change is slow and requires sustained efforts on multiple fronts—education, policy reform, legal enforcement, and social transformation. Addressing harmful gender norms, creating safe spaces for survivors, and ensuring justice systems are responsive are essential steps. Your voice, along with others, is part of the necessary movement to ensure that people like Rebecca Cheptegei are not forgotten and that we continue to push for a world where no one has to endure such violence. Every life matters, and everyone deserves the chance to live free from fear and harm. #Letsussayhername #Stopfemicide

We are devastated by the tragic loss of Rebecca Cheptegei, who succumbed to burn injuries after the boyfriend set her on fire. Another talented female athlete, full of promise, has had her life stolen due to the epidemic of gender-based violence. The deaths of Agnes Tirop, Damaris Muthee Mutua, Edith Muthoni, and now Rebecca all echo the same heartbreaking story — women murdered by the very men who were closest to them. Femicide is a crisis. We have marched, we have demanded action from state agencies, yet the killings persist. But we will not be silenced. We will continue to stand against femicide, call out the perpetrators, and demand justice for every woman whose life has been unjustly taken. #EndFemicide #EndGBV #RebeccaCheptegei

Last week on our Instagram Stories, we asked if sexual harassment is often overlooked in society, and 98% % of those who responded agreed that it is. This brought to light a gap in truly understanding what sexual harassment is. Globally, Sexual harassment affects millions but is frequently misunderstood or ignored. Many people don’t fully grasp what constitutes harassment or its wide-reaching implications, which can lead to a lack of recognition and response, especially among girls and young women. We’ve simplified the concept of sexual harassment to help you better recognize and respond to it, so you can protect victims and call out perpetrators. #SexualHarassment #EndHarassment #HarassmentAwareness

No More Taxes, Period🩸! Increasing taxes on menstrual hygiene products will make them even more unaffordable for many, leading directly to period poverty. This means women and girls will be forced to choose between their health and other essentials. We must stand together to ensure everyone has access to affordable period products. Let's fight for a future where no woman or girl in Kenya is held back because of their period🩸. #EndPeriodPoverty #RejectFinanceBill2024

UNICEF reports that over 500 million individuals worldwide face period poverty. This issue is especially severe in low-income countries where sanitary products are often unaffordable, scarce, and stigmatized. H Imposing taxes on menstrual products not only infringes on women's rights but also disregards the significant challenges women and girls face in accessing and affording these essential items. Such punitive measures set back progress, hindering efforts already made to address this critical issue thoughtfully and effectively. #Endperiodpoverty #menstruationisnotachoice

Menstrual products are not luxury products. PERIOD! The proposed Finance Bill 2024 in Kenya threatens to make essential menstrual health products unaffordable for many women and girls by imposing an Eco Levy on imported products. With few menstrual products being made in Kenya, many women and girls are likely to miss school and work, worsening the economic divide. We must stand together and reject this bill in its current form #rejectfinancebill2024. Every woman and girl has the right to access affordable menstrual products. #EndPeriodPoverty Make your voice heard ✍ : http://shorturl.at/Os8iS AMPLIFY GIRLS Girls Not Brides: The Global Partnership to End Child Marriage Zamara Foundation CREAWKenya Femicide Count - Kenya SDGs Kenya Forum
