In 2019, 2.7% (nearly 1.1 million) adults in Canada reported thoughts of suicide. By 2021, this percentage rose significantly to 4.2% (nearly 1.7 million). With rising rates of suicide and suicidal ideation, it is crucial to recognize the warning signs of someone who may be in distress or crisis. If you notice critical changes in an individual's behaviour, approach with empathy and if possible, encourage them to seek professional help. This can potentially save a life.
