In the wake of our first annual conference in November 2023, the impact was immediate and profound. From that single day, we received 67 referrals, a clear testament to the urgent need for our services. Since then, the number has only grown, underscoring a hard truth: the demand for our support is increasing at a pace we're struggling to meet. Currently, we're facing a waiting list of up to 9 months for individuals who desperately need our help. This situation is far from what we hoped for those we aim to support. It's a call to action for everyone who believes in making a difference. 📢 Why We Need Your Support: We're reaching out to ask if you could consider making Thriving Survivors your Charity of the Year. Your support could be the lifeline that shortens our waiting list and brings immediate help to those in dire need. How Your Support Makes a Difference: Direct Impact: Your support helps us expand our capacity to serve more individuals without the wait. Sustained Support: Long-term partnerships enable us to plan and implement more comprehensive support services. Awareness & Advocacy: Partnering with us raises awareness of the critical need for mental health and trauma recovery services. Together, we can change lives. Today’s colour for my selfie….vibrant orange!! If you see a man taking a photo wearing lipstick today, it may be because he’s Lip-Sticking It to women’s mental health issues 💄Challenging a man to do something so out-of-the-norm like wearing lipstick is not easy, so huge respect to the men who are proudly supporting their mothers, sisters, friends, co-workers (and all other women) today 💪 We can’t stress enough the importance of making a positive difference to the 1 in 2 women who are experiencing a mental health struggle. Today’s donations will have an impact on women’s mental health in three ways: 💄Mental health programs & initiatives 💄Support services and 💄Research Funds are allocated to the mental health gaps outlined in our annual Women’s Mental Health Research (link is in the comments). Are you ready to make a difference? Click on the link- it’s not too late to donate! #LiptemberFoundation #Liptember #MentalHealthCare #MentalHealthAwareness #MentalHealthMatters #WomensHealth

Here's a sobering statistic to begin your day: The National Institute of Mental Health reports that, as of 2020, "suicide ranks as the second leading cause of death among U.S. children aged 10 to 14, preceded only by unintentional injury." This particular statistic hit home during my research into the current state of mental health in the United States. As a mother, I can only begin to imagine the pain that children this young must be experiencing to commit suicide. And I don't even want to imagine that pain that's passed on to the family afterward. Statistics like these underscore the vital importance of organizations such as the National Alliance on Mental Illness (NAMI). NAMI plays a critical component role in providing support and resources to those affected by mental health conditions and their families. In an effort to support this mission, NAMI-NYC is organizing its annual NAMIWalks event at Seaport (Pier 16 and 17) on Sunday, May 19th. The goal for this year is to raise $1,200,000, with all proceeds dedicated to supporting NAMI's commitment to offering free resources and support to individuals living with serious mental health conditions and their families. My fundraising team aims to contribute $1,000 towards NAMI's cause this year. This is just a drop in the bucket of what NAMI hopes to achieve, but every dollar counts. Please considering supporting! #NAMI #NAMINYC #NAMIWalks
