B Certification is awarded to companies that meet the highest standards of verified social and environmental performance, public transparency and legal accountability to balance profit and purpose. It’s a rigorous process that uses an Impact Business Model to assess how a company is designed to create specific, positive benefits for one or more stakeholder groups (important note: Rights Holders aren’t currently identified as a distinct group but we hope this will change in the future!). With an overall score of 127.3, Rise Consulting was assessed through the B Impact Assessment on five key areas: Governance, Workers, Community, Environment and Customers. Rise became a certified B Corp in 2023 and we accept the ongoing commitment to continuously challenge ourselves and elevate our impact! Recertification takes place every two years. This is the first of a four-part series, watch for our next post which will focus on Impact Improvement. October 14 is a day to celebrate the rich diversity of Indigenous People within Turtle Island since time immemorial. The adoption of National Indigenous Peoples Day for our friends and cousins in what we now call the United States was proclaimed in 2021 and counters the federal holiday, Christopher Columbus Day. A “New World” was not discovered in 1492. One of the first celebrations of this Day took place on October 10, 1992, in Berkeley, California - marking 500 years of resistance. This year marks 532 years of resistance and counting. Indigenous People have and will continue to, sustain vibrant and diverse cultures, languages and knowledge across generations on this land. We encourage the continual curiosity and unlearning of Columbus Day myths, and for attention to be redirected to support, uplift and celebrate Indigenous Peoples across Turtle Island. #NIPD
