When walking through offer details, be sure to remind the candidate why they’re ready to make a move.     "I don't get paid to say 'no.' I get paid to say how." 🔥 🔥 🔥 This week's pod might have set the record for most notes I've taken in an episode. Ashley Hansen Grech was dropping knowledge and this episode is PACKED with useful frameworks and mental models. One of my favourite takeaways that I've found myself sharing multiple times since recording is her "Gut-Data-Gut" framework, and it might just change how you make tough calls as a revenue leader. Here's how it works: 1️⃣ START WITH GUT Your instincts are trying to tell you something when: ➡️ Topics repeatedly surface in customer conversations ➡️ A phenomenon pops up in the market ➡️ Competitors start winning more frequently in your deals Most leaders with good instincts catch these signals. The problem? Many stop here, making decisions based solely on intuition. Also, this is why it's so critical to stay close to the frontline and your customers. 2️⃣ GO DEEP ON DATA This is where the real work happens. Dive into your driver tree (revenue waterfall) to validate whether your gut instinct represents a real problem or just noise. Ashley uses a structured approach breaking revenue down to: 👉 Quantity (deal volume) 👉 Quality (deal size) 👉 Conversion rates 👉 Velocity (time to close) Then she drills down with targeted questions: "Why are outbound leads not getting past discovery?" "Why are we losing 20% of deals in implementation?" Use the 5 Why's here. The data will tell you if your hunch is a red herring or something that deserves attention. 3️⃣ APPLY JUDGMENT You'll rarely have 100% of the information you need. As Bezos famously said, "Most decisions should be made with about 70% of the information you wish you had." Waiting for perfect clarity just means you're being too slow. Use your judgment to make the final call based on what you've learned. What I love about this framework is that it acknowledges both the value of intuition AND the necessity of data-driven validation. It's a perfect middle path between "we need more data" paralysis and impulsive decision-making based on anecdotes or the loudest voice in the room. Hope y'all enjoy this one as much as I did!
