Today is International Day of the Girl Child, a day dedicated to celebrating the voices and power of girls and reflecting on the challenges they continue to face because of their gender. In Canada, women are underrepresented in science, technology, engineering and math (STEM), yet, it’s anticipated that the majority of future jobs will require STEM literacy. Closing this gender gap is critical. Women hold only 25% of jobs in STEM in Canada today. Mentorship plays a critical role in supporting girls and women. Our Girls & STEAM program is dedicated to fostering the next generation of leaders, opening them up to the possibilities in careers as they navigate the growing demand for diversity and innovation in STEAM.
