At SECURE, our commitment to safety guides everything we do. On October 16, 25 safety standups took place throughout our operations in Western Canada and North Dakota. Our senior leaders hosted these to connect with employees, share insights and discuss ways we can continue to improve our safety practices. Ensuring that everyone goes home safe is at the core of who we are and comes first.

We’re thrilled to partner with 4-H Alberta, providing a $25,000 donation and kickstarting an exciting new initiative - the Metals4Good Program! Metals4Good aims to empower 4-H Alberta clubs by teaching the importance of sustainability through metal recycling, all while raising funds for local clubs. 4-H Alberta clubs can partner with SECURE’s metals recycling locations across Alberta to have proceeds from scrap metal drop-offs donated directly to their programs. Additionally, SECURE will be donating an extra percentage of the scale price to support fundraising efforts. Our roots are rural – we are so thankful for this opportunity to give back in a meaningful way.

In honour of National Day for Truth and Reconciliation, SECURE is proud to reflect on recent initiatives supporting Indigenous communities and celebrating Indigenous culture. SECURE supported the Athabasca Tribal Council's Back to School Wellness Day in Janvier, assisting Chipewyan Prairie First Nation families. When organizers anticipated over 100 students but had only seven backpacks, our team donated 100 backpacks filled with essential supplies. This contribution alleviated the stress many families face as they prepare their children for the school year. In Grande Prairie, we hosted a community barbecue at Muskoseepi Park, welcoming over 1,000 attendees. Guests enjoyed SECURE goodie bags, burgers and hot dogs, while the day’s focus was on honouring residential school survivors and remembering those who never returned home. Throughout SECURE, we came together for National Day for Truth and Reconciliation. This year, we partnered with an Indigenous artist to design a SECURE-branded orange shirt symbolizing resilience and remembrance. Our team participated in a quiz, which received 336 submissions, helping raise awareness about the history of residential schools in Canada. Lastly, SECURE was honoured to attend the 21st Annual Pow Wow Competition hosted by Heart Lake First Nation. We joined in the vibrant celebrations, witnessing traditional dances and regalia, which serve as powerful expressions of Indigenous identity and culture. We are deeply grateful for these opportunities to contribute, learn and stand in solidarity with Indigenous communities.

September 30 is National Day for Truth and Reconciliation - a day dedicated to honouring the survivors of residential schools, their families, and the communities affected by this dark chapter in our country’s history. We spoke with Andrea Nelson, SECURE's Indigenous Relations Coordinator, who shared how she is honouring her family's history and resilience: https://bit.ly/3TOGJ6z

Today, we announced our intention to change our name to SECURE Waste Infrastructure Corp. "The SECURE brand has always embodied safety, reliability, and entrepreneurship," said Allen Gransch, President and CEO. "While these core values remain at the heart of our company, our new name reflects the evolution of our business and strategic focus. Over the past five years, SECURE has transitioned from a full-service energy services company to a specialized waste management and energy infrastructure provider. The name SECURE Waste Infrastructure Corp. better captures our core business activities, which are centered on the processing, recovery, recycling, and disposal of diverse waste streams, and the efficient operation of our critical infrastructure network." SECURE will seek shareholder approval for the name change at a special meeting of shareholders to be held on October 29, 2024.
