About us
Spark is a place for the curious. As Calgary’s science centre, Spark ignites a sense of wonder and fuels a passion for Science, Technology, Engineering, Art and Math (STEAM). Collaboration, curiosity, courage and commitment are at the core of who we are. Spark is a place for people of all ages to discover the ‘why’ behind the science. TELUS Spark is a not-for-profit organization with a mission to be a role model and force for innovation that drives positive change. The vision? A community transformed by a culture of curiosity, risk-taking and problem solving. In April 2022, Beakerhead and TELUS Spark Science Centre joined forces to engage and inspire more people and communities with science and technology. TELUS Spark acquired Beakerhead with a plan to grow the future of science communication in communities across Calgary, the province and afar. The future looks brighter than ever before. The most spectacular outreach program a science centre could ever dream of! Charitable business number: 118781079 RR0001

Cloudy with a Chance of Science, one of Spark's education programs, has received a Silver Award in Interpretation Canada's 2023 Award of Excellence! This is what the judge had to say, “The program and its mission seems very inspiring, and I think the use of a green screen for students to make their own weather forecasts would be a highlight for the students.” Cloudy with a Chance of Science was a four-day in-school experience that introduces grade 4–6 students to the wonderful world of meteorology through hands-on learning. The program was part of GenAction initiative, which is a Canada-wide program that increases youth awareness on climate change and inspires kids to take action! Congratulations to all involved! 🏆 Check out all of the 2024/2025 "In Your Classroom" programs available through Spark: https://bit.ly/3Xgs453 For more information about GenAction: www.genaction.ca #GenAction #CASC
