MTTF - Mean Time To Failure. Our client loved a mechanical solution that we pitched to their engineering team. Excellent, but not so fast... Now we needed to ensure it can last a MINIMUM of 90,000 cycles before failing. That required an automated testing rig to be developed using a smart relay with pneumatic cylinders and load cells to continuously actuate the component system until failure. One month to design and develop. One month to secure all the parts, assemble and validate. One month to hit the 90K mark. All of this was for a small but critical user interface of a much larger design and manufacturing program. Multi-disciplinary team work made this challenge a success. #innovation

Breadboard development at Tensen Design is one of the first steps in our electro-mechanical ideation. This prototyping allows us to refine the user interface with the product and narrow down the discrete components for the PCBA spins. Understanding the user interface along with the real estate required for the PCBA inside the device, early, is critical to a successful product design.
