Thank you to our #TeamTDG's Home Office team for your generous support of United Way Winnipeg! Our home office was the place to be last week as we hosted our annual United Way Campaign. With a lottery tree, bake sale, coffee and doughnut cart, lucky sucker contest, a daily lunch feature, and payroll donations, there were many ways to contribute to the amazing work the United Way Winnipeg does for our communities. Just check out these photos! Supporting our communities and having fun as a team is an amazing way to live our purpose to Make Life Better! A huge shout out to Kelly Zeghers and the United Way committee for your incredible work making this a funtastic fundraising event! And we must praise Pat Fitzgerald for hosting her homemade pulled pork lunch, along with all the fixing, which is now the cornerstone event of the campaign. We’d be amiss if we didn’t thank the true heroes – everyone giving their time and energy to the organizations the United Way supports! TDG was proud to sponsor this event, as well as Toba Centre for Children & Youth's recent capital campaign and fundraising golf tournament. HELPFUL TIPS: How to Clean Your Refrigerator Your fridge is probably the appliance you use the most, so it’s important to keep it clean and tidy. It’s recommended you perform a regular clean about once a month (or more if you’re a spiller). While we recommend you always check your owner’s manual for specific instructions, here are 5 general steps to cleaning your fridge. #1. EMPTY THE FRIDGE. Remove all the food and other items onto the counter or store perishable items in the freezer or in a cooler. Check for expired items and wipe down bottles and jars are you go! #2. REMOVE & CLEAN THE INTERIOR COMPONENTS. A sponge or soft microfibre cloth, dish soap and warm water usually does the trick. #3. WIPE DOWN THE INTERIOR OF THE FRIDGE. Starting from the top, use the same combination of sponge/cloth, dish soap and warm water to clean the inside of the fridge. #4. CLEAN THE EXTERIOR. Using either a specialized cleaner (as recommended in your owner’s manual) or the same combination of dish soap, hot water, sponge/cloth, wipe the exterior of the fridge, starting from the top and making your way down. #5. PUT IT ALL BACK TOGETHER! Reassemble the interior components as you like, add in the food, and enjoy your clean fridge! If you have questions about your fridge or are in the market for a new model, stop by our Dufresne stores and speak to an appliance specialist. You can also visit www.dufresne.ca to chat with an associate online. We’d be happy to help! In addition to regular monthly cleaning, it’s recommended that you deep clean your fridge twice a year. WORLD MENTAL HEALTH DAY: YOU MAKE LIFE BETTER This year’s theme for World Mental Health Day is workplace mental health, so we thought we’d share some tips to help prioritize mental health whether you are at work, play or at home. #1. Eat well. A healthy diet can be a mood booster. #2. Get outdoors. Even a 15-minute walk can help with your mental health! #3. Prioritize sleep. Lack of sleep can impact your productivity at work and your physical health. Follow us here on LinkedIn for Healthy Sleep tips! #4. Build relationships with your team members and leaders. Healthy relationships will facilitate communication and understanding, leading to a healthier workplace. #5. Take action on any performance or work concerns. Request a meeting with your leader if you aren’t getting enough feedback or are unsure what winning looks like. #6. Adopt relaxation practices, such as meditation, mindfulness, yoga, or breathing practices, to reduce and prevent stress. #7. Seek professional help for stress-related symptoms like high blood pressure, migraines, or insomnia. #8. Learn about the Mental Health support available at work or in your community. At TDG, we’re proud to partner with The Johnson Group, Maxben, McFadden Benefits, Pension & Wellness, and EHN Canada, the country’s largest network of private treatment services for addiction, trauma, and mental health, as part of our TDG Cares benefit program. If you’re part of #TeamTDG and want to learn more, please check out TDG Connect, speak to your leader, or contact your HR representative. Shout out to the Mental Health Commission of Canada for the tips.
