3 Key Takeaways for Transitioning to a Nonprofit Career. Here are a few excerpts from our newest Hive Article (inspired by our LinkedIn Live!!) 1. Be Curious: Research, Learn, and Build Connections Amina Mohamed, who founded Cameras For Girls, stresses the importance of staying humble and open to learning: “I didn’t come from the nonprofit world, so I’m constantly learning. I reach out, I ask questions, and I connect with people who are where I want to be.” 2. Embrace Your Strengths and Transferable Skills Michael Le, now the Executive Director of the Pacific Dental Services Foundation, highlights how his background as an attorney helped him navigate the nonprofit space. “I realized that my legal and business background gave me unique strengths, from navigating governance issues to building partnerships.” 3. Learn to Collaborate and Adapt to Limited Resources Nelvin Johnson, who now works as the Director of Advancement for Feed the Children, emphasizes how collaboration has been a cornerstone of his success in fundraising. “Nonprofits are often asked to do more with fewer resources, but that’s where creativity comes in. We can’t thrive in isolation; we have to lean on each other." What would your biggest piece of advice be for making the move to nonprofit??? HUGE thanks to our panelists, you made this such an incredible conversation. Check out the full article here! https://lnkd.in/ga3qYAqi

You cannot do it by yourself nonprofiteer. Changing the world is a team effort - and the hard part for many of us is that we have not been taught by the workplace (or life in general) to be great team players. We have not been taught how to Ask for Help. What is beautiful is that when we stop trying to go it alone, when we put down the badge of honor of "I can do it myself", real magic happens. It will surprise you the people who will show up in unexpected ways to support your mission. Hiver Danika Tynes, PhD, MS of Sustainable Access Foundation does a beautiful job of capturing what she had to unlearn in her move to the nonprofit world. And what she has been given in return from her community when she leaned in to asking for help. Our favourite line of this interview??" "If I stayed in my little box of, let me do it myself and fund it myself, I would have missed how much beauty there is and how collectively we do want to lean into this thing called access and sustainability." How do you lean in to asking for support nonprofiteer?? ____________________________________________ Danika Tynes is the Founder and Chief Operations Officer at Sustainable Access Foundation that is asking the tough question "What would the world be like if everyone had ACCESS? Their mission is to provide "Hand-ups. Not Hand-outs." And they are investing in communities worldwide to build their own legacies. ❤️ Make sure to give Danika a follow 🔔 AND go learn more about the work her and team are doing through Sustainable Access Foundation. https://lnkd.in/gEQZE3EB

"A new job will make me feel better." Have you ever said those words to yourself nonprofiteer? Only to find that a new role doesn't solve the feelings of: - overwhelm - helplessness - numbness - loss of productivity - irritability, etc. Burnout is nobody’s fault - but it is all of our responsibility. As Hiver Megan Whitney writes in her most recent Hive Article, "We must regain and sustain our energy if we want to stay in the game." So proud to be able to share Megan's very personal story of burnout + self-actualization on HOW burnout was affecting her. This article is Part 2 in our Nonprofit Burnout Crisis series - its a great starting point to recognize where you may be at, that this is not your fault, and to find some free resources to get started on staying in the nonprofit arena. https://lnkd.in/gmHB4EKf
