We would like to express our gratitude to a group of youth who, during their grade 12 at Kelowna Christian School (KCS), came together to fundraise for The Uganda Goat Livelihood Project. This was as part of the Sustainable Development Challenge 2024. The team came 2nd in this Challenge, where they shared about their fundraising effort through a basketball tournament. Through their effort and because of their position, they received a prize of 2000 CAD, which they donated to The Spinoza Foundation. This is in addition to 58 CAD received from this group of students. Altogether, we have received 2058 CAD from this group of youth dedicated to improving the lives of other children and youth in Uganda. Thank you very much @the_goat_project_ (Jackson, Jordan, Nick, and Will). We are humbled by your empathy and generosity and wish you the best in all your life, academic, and career endeavors! Stay blessed always!

  • The Spinoza Foundation believes that through goat farming, we can empower communities and uplift households. We are not wrong. Our Executive Director, Patience Spinoza Okuku, has been visiting past beneficiaries to check on the goats distributed in both 2021 and 2022. In this video, a beneficiary's parent shares that she received one female goat in 2021. She has sold 6 goats to support her child's education and still has 7 goats. Of the seven goats, one is sick and receiving treatment whose costs she is meeting. This elaborates on the impact of the Uganda Goat Livelihood Project. From one goat, an individual is able to educate their child and increase their livestock. They are also able to take initiative and treat their goats as part of their responsibilities as development partners. Thank you to everyone who has supported us so far. We hope that you continue supporting us in our journey of uplifting households in Uganda.

Community empowerment is incomplete without community and skills training. This is why at The Spinoza Foundation, we go the extra mile and conduct entrepreneurship training with project beneficiaries prior to goat distribution. We conducted a community training workshop in Kaladima subcounty in Amuru district before distribution of 33 female goats in May 2024. Translation and message from clip and broader workshop: We are now recovering from the political insurgency that characterized our region for long until 2006/2008. And yet our youth continue to use various drugs which affect them. The opportunity to receive a goat 🐐 can transform our lives and change the course of our trajectory for better if used well. This is our request of the beneficiaries. Everyone will receive a goat, but the state of each family in the future will vary depending on how they manage and utilize what they have received. Each beneficiary is encouraged to keep the goats and allow them to multiply to 4 before either selling or consuming a goat. Furthermore, they are requested to always maintain at least 4 goats.
