The sun shone on this year’s Mashkikii;aki’ing Garden Open House! ☀️ On November 7th, the MKK team and partners from Na-Me-Res welcomed our community to explore this vibrant space, where over 50 types of plants, fruits, vegetables, fungi, and medicinal flowers are cultivated. Beyond growing food, the garden serves as a gathering point for drum circles, Ojibwe language lessons, medicine wheel teachings, and sweetgrass harvests and braiding. The event showcased the garden’s amazing impact, inviting our community to experience its work firsthand while enjoying fresh cornbread and homemade stew. Watch this space to catch future events! (we have loads coming up you won’t want to miss).

Let's Bring Essential Care to Our Community! Good food is vital, but so are hygiene essentials—and for many, they’re out of reach. Items like toothbrushes, body wash, shampoo, and razors are always in short supply. Let’s meet the full needs of our community by ensuring no one goes without these basics. Contact donate@thestop.org to schedule a drop-off 💚

Next Sunday at 6 PM, join us at The Drake Hotel for Dinner with Friends! 🥂 Enjoy a delicious seasonal spread ($45PP) with wine pairings from The Living Vine (+$10). Add a $5 donation to The Stop and receive a photobooth voucher to capture the night. Our Earlscourt Garden lead kindly contributed fresh garlic, which will be featured in a savoury roast dip served with sourdough—just one highlight of the evening’s menu. We’re grateful to be a part of this event lovingly organized by The Drake Hotel. This is a family-style feast you won’t want to miss, so save your seat at the table :) https://bit.ly/4haA94b

We’re still smiling with gratitude after a delicious Thanksgiving at The Stop! Last week, we served three special holiday meals to our drop-in and perinatal program participants, featuring chicken, baked fish, tempeh, fresh cranberry sauce, and edible flowers. 💐 Each week, we provide more than 1,400 free meals, and during the holidays, our chefs and volunteers go above and beyond to serve nutritious, festive, and accessible meals for those in need. Thanks to your support, we can continue this vital work. If you’re able, give back to help us offer quality meals to our community, now and beyond the holiday season. https://lnkd.in/gQ7fiyrT

Mark your calendars! This Saturday, October 12th, we’ll be at The Stop’s Farmers’ Market hosting a special pop up in support of our food bank. Visit our booth, chat with us, and take part in our fun bean count survey. Every donation you bring helps fill our food bank, which is always in need of items especially as the weather gets colder. Can’t make it? You can still make a difference—donate directly to our campaign. https://lnkd.in/gQ7fiyrT Planning a Thanksgiving dinner? You can host your own food drive by asking guests to bring an item for our food bank. Reach out to donate@thestop.org to set up a drop-off! See you there :)

At The Stop, we believe that good food is more than just a meal—it’s a catalyst for connection. This Thanksgiving, join us in bringing warmth and community to our neighbours as we celebrate the season. By supporting us, you help secure essentials like butter, maple syrup, and cranberries, ensuring that everyone can enjoy a special holiday meal. Together, let’s offer our neighbours a taste of home this Thanksgiving. Your contributions make it possible. https://lnkd.in/gBMKFFnS

Let’s Give Back & Give Thanks. At The Stop, we serve over 1,400 meals weekly to those in need, but rising food costs are increasing this demand. In Toronto, 31% of adults have reported missing meals because they couldn't afford food. We witness the effects of this crisis daily. This Thanksgiving season, we're raising funds to serve nourishing meals that are deeply appreciated by our community. Your support is crucial. Join us in bringing our community together through good food. https://lnkd.in/gQ7fiyrT
