Navigating newcomers and immigrants to success.

About us

Freshstarthub was created with one intent in mind: Your Success. Newcomers often meet challenges they never anticipated upon their arrival. These difficulties range from career transition to securing living arrangements, parenting, and battling culture shock. When it comes to career, newcomers experience lack of recognition of foreign credentials and experience; language and communication barriers; discrimination; and employers’ requirement for “Canadian experience”. This can be confusing, and frustrating. We aim to be the one-stop virtual library designed for the success of those who are new to Canada. Freshstarthub stands at the intersection of inspiration and application.

Thank you Marilyn Friedmann, CMC, CPCC. David Ojeyinka and his Freshstarthub are much needed initiatives. He is bootstrapping his work with his day job, and Social Impact Leaders with economic development Community Investment Strategies should take a look at his good work. Support of his Fresh Start job Seekers (all professionals as they enter Canada) and his Hub is much needed!

I help leaders go from surviving to thriving by aligning awareness, behaviour and actions.

Bam! Nailed it! I was delighted to attend a keynote presentation last evening by David Ojeyinka on "Bridging the Gap: Building a More Equitable, Sustainable & Prosperous Canada"; a very well researched and engaging presentation and discussion that provided great insight and hope. We are fortunate to be able to welcome newcomers to Canada AND we need to do a much better job at all levels to help newcomers find decent jobs and to address the housing crisis. It is not on government alone to bridge this gap, though our government does need to do a far better job of implementing an integrated strategy. Newcomers themselves, private sector leaders, government and every one of us needs to lean in to make this work. I am very proud of my dear friend Jane Mwangi who has worked incredibly hard to earn multiple Canadian credentials and to begin to build a new life in Canada. She gives of her time and talent to contribute to community building in Canada. Where are the job openings for talented and committed newcomers in aerospace and advanced manufacturing? Job fairs are not enough. I'm eager to find solutions and be part of brokering solutions to match newcomers with decent job opportunities and housing to build a better future for all. Thank you Kathryn Cooper for providing this opportunity! Congratulations David Ojeyinka on your outstanding leadership, vulnerability, courage and commitment.  #graduate #diploma in #social #responsibility and #sustainability University of Toronto - University of St. Michael's College
