“It was a feat, and I have to say it was all because of my wonderful crew. Having everybody on board, trying to make this happen… We wanted to keep real time for 28 minutes, or however long it took.” At ANORA’s #TIFF24 Canadian Premiere, filmmaker Sean Baker discussed how it took eight days - and no storyboards - to shoot the 28 minute home invasion scene in his Best Picture–winning film. At last week’s Academy Awards, Baker also took home #Oscars for Best Director, Best Editing, and Best Original Screenplay.

TIFF is saddened by the loss of Paul Bronfman, a true champion of Canadian cinema and lover of film. His impact on our industry is immeasurable, from his instrumental role in building vital production infrastructure to his early and generous support of TIFF Lightbox. Paul was among the first to recognize the importance of a permanent home for film culture in Toronto, and his contributions were pivotal in making that vision a reality. Throughout the years, he remained a steadfast supporter of young filmmakers, believing in their talent and potential. His legacy will live on in the countless stories brought to life thanks to his dedication. We extend our deepest condolences to his family, friends, and colleagues. https://lnkd.in/dDuzbKtj
