On Tuesday, Mayor Fule and Councillor Mitzner attended a Mid-Sized Cities Mayor's Caucus event in Edmonton where they had the opportunity to meet with Minister Michael Ellis, Minister Ric McIver, and Parliamentary Secretary Chantelle de Jonge. They also had the chance to catch up with colleagues from other communities, like Mayor Shannon Dean from Chestermere. Council members from the Town of Strathmore, Village of Rockyford, Village of Standard, and Village of Hussar recently participated in a Regional Collaboration Workshop, where they explored the various opportunities and challenges our region collectively faces. The insight gained from this workshop will be brought back to their respective Councils to discuss next steps and actions as part of a regional team. By working together, the municipalities can navigate common challenges and seize opportunities that strengthen the entire region. Mayor Fule had the opportunity to meet with several cabinet ministers in Edmonton this week, as the legislature begins Spring Session. This was a fantastic chance to share Council’s strategic priorities and discuss how we can collaborate to benefit both Strathmore and Alberta. These events allow the Town to advocate for our community's needs and build strong relationships with the Government of Alberta.

This week, our legislative team and two members of Council hosted a group of bright and curious grade six students from George Freeman School at Town Hall. We discussed local government, decision-making, and the value of civic engagement in shaping Strathmore. Civics education empowers young minds to ask questions, think critically, and participate in democracy. Who knows?
