More excitement for our team this week as we delivered our first session of De-escalation Strategies to the City of Oshawa’s Municipal Law Enforcement Services. With a broad spectrum of duties within the city, their officers focus on assisting their community members with a variety of services including animal care, business licensing, by-law compliance, parking enforcement and more! We look forward to what’s ahead.

Also this week! Our team was back with RBG SECURITY INC for another round of defensive tactics and use of force certification. Their team of tactical guards continue to expand as their clients’ needs grow.

Our team was excited to kick off Day 1 with the City of Vaughan Property Standards, Parking Enforcement, and Animal Services Provincial Offences Officers. As we dove into topics around conflict management, perception, communication theory and De-escalation strategies, this group really came to the course with their own experiences and provided some deep insight into the realities of their work. Through empathy, rapport building and active listening, we aim to “buy time” and work to resolve situations collaboratively within the communities we serve. Thanks for being such an engaging group and we look forward to the next number of weeks with the team.

I’m happy to share that I’ve obtained a new certification: Use of Force Trainer from Ontario Police College!

Our team was honoured to launch the inaugural Personal Safety Concepts for Fire Services Program with City of St. Catharines Fire Services. The recruit class of Station 4, along with members from communications, fire prevention, human resources and the training team were great to work with. Our team looks forward to working further with their command team, human resources and the training team on future deliveries. This week, Niagara Region Business Licencing and Enforcement hosted our Provincial Investigations course. MLEOs and Provincial Offence Officers from Business Licencing, Public Health and Tobacco Enforcement came together over the past two days to learn about various topics including the Provincial Offences Act, the Municipal Act, and their related authorities relating to charges, orders, injunctions and warrants. Tomorrow brings Doug Ashton and I together co-presenting to a sold out crowd at the Security Leadership Symposium.
