Total rewards are one type of employee recognition; a more obvious way of appreciating them is by ingraining acknowledgement into daily work routines. Here are some effective ideas. - Celebrate both big milestones and small wins - Encourage peers to support and highlight one another for their contributions and achievements - Spotlight employee achievements internally and externally - Monetary incentives always work, but personalizing the awards makes employees feel special - Consider shared values when designing a recognition program At TNHR, we always emphasize data-driven decisions. The first recognition plan may be based on research done outside your organization, but you can collect data after the plan is in action. Gathering custom statistics will guide the review, lead to improvements, and incorporate this into the company culture.

https://lnkd.in/gm7Yn_hh A Robert Half survey of 1,751 Canadian workers shows that nearly 70% of the respondents value paid time off more than any other benefit. This is of particular concern for working parents, who say they’re putting in more time at work compared to a year ago. As some companies make the move to ask staff back to work, being away from children is becoming a higher concern for working parents. The answer is to offer customized benefits as part of your total rewards plan. We can help you tailor a total rewards package for your workforce https://lnkd.in/gA8Gsdpx.

Some estimates say GenZ will account for 25% of the global workforce by next year—yes, we mean 2025. It’s inevitable, but are you prepared for it? All generations are disparate from one another. That’s how it has always been and will likely continue to be. Management being from a different generation means there will be some gaps in communication between the two levels. When hiring from a younger generation, it’s a good idea to spend some time determining the areas they need support. Your response to this shouldn’t be letting them go but prioritizing training and development to add value to their experience. Offering opportunities to grow earns you loyalty points that will go a long way. Looking for ways to create a training and development pathway? We all know someone who is struggling to make ends meet. It’s painfully becoming the new ‘norm’ after the pandemic. It’s especially affecting women because of existing gender wage inequity. As an HR expert, I take my role in ensuring proper compensation policies very seriously. I present the data, push back when business owners resist adopting equity-focused compensation policies and mediate for employees. Fair compensation is not a short-term action; it’s a long-term strategy in which HR is deeply involved. HR consultants build this approach into the company’s goals to make a business sustainable. Small businesses are the backbone of an economy. Small business owners are community-minded visionaries who notice the service gaps around them and decide to do something about them. Small businesses owned by women require a whole new level of dedication. These exceptional women serve as a source of inspiration for up-and-coming female business leaders. Female business owners have countless personal and professional qualities that propel their endeavours. We’ve listed a few below, but we’d love to hear more from you in the comments. Women are exceptional at soft skills needed for negotiations and for reaching win-win situations. Women use their empathy and deeper understanding of human behaviour to contribute important consumer insights. Female business leaders are flexible in their approach because they focus on taking the whole team to the next level. Women-owned companies build stronger relationships and prioritize social responsibility as part of their brand values. #womeninbusiness #womenventures #femaleleaders #womeninleadership

Does your company have its next round of leadership ready to take the reins? We have two words for you: look within. Here are some other tips on how to use succession planning to maintain business continuity. Save time and hire from someone already in the wings. Develop key talent from day one to take over the top roles one day. Preserve company knowledge and wisdom by mentoring an existing employee who shows potential. Prepare the rest of the company for succession early on so they’re all on board. Read more in our blog: https://lnkd.in/g7SDFbTb Don’t have the time to think about this on your own? As the month of gratitude approaches, I begin counting my blessings. And there are MANY! I’m thankful for my wonderful, supportive family. I’m grateful for the opportunities that have come my way, which have given me the chance to build a business from scratch and gather an amazing team around me. I’m definitely grateful for my wonderful colleagues who enrich my life every day. (Thank you, TNHR team!) I’m also filled with gratitude for other things in life: the ability to go for a walk, enjoy the outdoors, curl up next to a fire with a book, interact with some of the smartest minds in my industry, and so much more. I’m thankful for all the experiences I’ve had in life and for those I have access to. They all make me who I am today. Leave a comment below to tell me what you’re grateful for. #thanksgiving #gratitude #grateful #thankful

Bit by bit, as we all recognize the importance of facing our history on this land, we take steps to move closer to Truth and Reconciliation. The National Truth and Reconciliation Day is part of the Truth and Reconciliation Commission's 94 Calls to Action, which seek to address the historical and ongoing injustices faced by Indigenous peoples on this land. Today is also known as Orange Shirt Day. It’s a chance for us to take a moment to honour survivors of residential schools and remember those who never made it home. Take time to reflect on the significance of the day and listen to Indigenous voices about their experiences and perspectives to move ahead with a lens of inclusivity.

Let skills, not gender, define the compensation for female-identifying candidates. An ADP report says, ‘Half of women in the United States and 52% in Canada say they’re underpaid.’ Further, a smaller share of women in Canada (22%) than men (30%) have seen an improvement in pay equity. The market is just a reflection of gender inequality, so it’s not entirely fair to use that as a reason for your gender compensation policies. In my experience, there are many reasons for gender pay disparity. Men negotiate harder than women do. There’s a perceptual difference between the two genders when it comes to wage negotiation. ‘He’ who negotiates is a go-getter and he knows what he wants. ‘She’ who asks for the wage she deserves is judged as hard to deal with and difficult to work with. We have to work to make it safe for women to negotiate and not lose a job because they’re asking for what they deserve for their skill and experience. Legislation works to bring change to a certain degree, but it’s not a remedy for the micro-biases in the recruitment process and the organization. Train your hiring managers about the biases that will pop up and how to stop, think, and realign their approach.
