Last week’s Venture Day presented by NEXT Canada was an incredible experience! We were truly blown away by the ideas and passion that these founders brought to the table. We had the pleasure of connecting with many talented entrepreneurs, each with very unique perspectives and insights. We are so excited to continue watching these founders grow and to see where their journeys lead them. Congratulations to one of our portfolio companies Blumind for being chosen as one of the top 12 companies of Next Canada's 2024 cohort! It was really nice to connect with the NEXT Canada community, through Venture Day and the dinner later that evening. It is evident that all of the founders of their 2024 cohort are trying to solve very important issues in the world. What an incredible day! We had a great time at the TechTO event at Toronto Metropolitan University last week! The evening was filled with lots of new and familiar faces as well as many insightful presentations. At this event, we heard from Mohammad Norouzi, who is a Co-founder of Ideogram, which is proudly one of our portfolio companies, Rishi Nayyar, the CEO and Co-founder of PocketHealth, Braden Ream, the CEO and Co-founder of Voiceflow, Michael F Bergmann, a founding member of ALMOST ALCHEMY LIMITED, and Dr. Kris Alexander, an associate professor at Toronto Metropolitan University. Michael F Bergmann’s take on the challenges and opportunities that arise with the emergence of AI was fascinating. He highlights that our coexistence with AI is our new reality and we must embrace it as an opportunity to adapt, innovate, and enhance human potential. We fully agree with him, in fact, Two Small Fish has been building and investing in AI for over a decade! This week Brandon Zhao had the pleasure of judging a pitch competition at Perimeter Institute as part of the first-ever Perimeter Scholars International (PSI) alumni reunion celebrating 15 amazing years. As part of the competition, PSI alumni formed small groups to develop a project that bridges theoretical physics and real-world issues like climate change. 🎉 Congratulations to the first-prize winners, Simulating the Future Through Science Fiction! And a special shout out to the runner-up prize winners, Physics Without Words! 🎉 The pitches were incredible examples of why PSI is one of the most sought-after master's programs in theoretical physics. Every year, it attracts the best and brightest young minds, where they dive deep into modern physics topics under the supervision of the Institute’s world-renowned faculty. Thank you Perimeter Institute for Theoretical Physics for including Two Small Fish in your 15-year celebration.
