My son Sammy had the pleasure to perform as featured violin soloist with the symphony orchestra to Italian dignitaries, scientists, and international partners to celebrate the grand opening of “Galileo and his Ingenious Discoveries,” an exhibit on display at the prestigious Perimeter Institute for Theoretical Physics. What a fun night and I'm very proud of his dedication to his craft. I always encourage him to have these interesting unique experiences as there is so much to learn and enjoy. #violin #prodigy #symphony #orchestra #scientists #galileo #exhibit #perimeterinstitute #physics #music #performance #unique #experience #proud #prouddad

Prior to becoming Perimeter’s Director of External Relations, Emily Petroff, PhD, CAPM® researched Fast Radio Bursts (FRB)—one of the universe’s greatest cosmic mysteries. Her latest work was just published with collaborators at ASTRON, and it unlocks new insights into these fleeting, powerful bursts from deep space! Learn more: https://hubs.ly/Q035zSMl0

Worlds collided last night when my Italian family and friends were invited to Perimeter Institute for the opening of the esteemed Galileo and his Ingenious Discoveries exhibit. It was a wonderful evening of learning, culture, and networking. It is an amazing exhibit and the Educational Outreach team has created engaging activities to relate to the curriculum for students who will be visiting!
Dignitaries, scientists, and international partners came together Tuesday to toast the opening of “Galileo and his Ingenious Discoveries,” an exhibit on display at Perimeter Institute for Theoretical Physics – mounted outside of Europe for the first time ever this month. “As a founder of modern science, Galileo’s relentless pursuit of knowledge transformed humanity’s understanding of the universe,” said Dr. Marcela Carena, Perimeter’s Executive Director, speaking at the event. Following in Galileo’s footsteps, the exhibit is bringing together partners and friends from across borders and across disciplines, to celebrate the fundamentals of scientific curiosity that unite us all. Among the speakers were Italian Ambassador to Canada Alessandro Cattaneo, Professor Alessandro De Angelis, astrophysicist at the Università degli Studi di Padova, and physicist Fernando Ferroni, Senior Professor at Gran Sasso Science Institute. The Galileo Museum in Florence collaborated with Perimeter Institute in bringing the exhibit to Canada, with support from the Permanent Delegation of Italy to International Organizations in Paris, the Italian Embassy, the Consulate General of Italy in Toronto, and the Italian Cultural Institutes of Toronto and Montreal. “Galileo and his Ingenious Discoveries” is open to the public and to school groups from February 3-17, with tickets (free of charge) available at https://hubs.ly/Q035pXCQ0.
