A great example of how the HART tools can be used to better understand where a community is at and where to focus next. Thanks as always to HousingNowTO for your ongoing advocacy for evidence-based #housing decisions👏#onpoli
"We looked at tools from the The University of British Columbia, the Housing Assessment Resource Tools (HART). We highly recommend that anybody who’s interested in housing is using these. They’re based on the 2021 census and we looked at your specific target. So this is for the Region of Waterloo, in 2021 - you had an #AffordableHousing deficit for moderate income, low income and very low income people. A moderate income household is looking for a rental unit at or below $1,860, a low income house is looking under $1,200 and a very low income household is looking under $500 a month…but some of those $500 a month apartments are for 3 person households - so you’ve got single moms with 2 or 3 kids who can only afford that $500 a month rent. How do you fill that gap in order to make it viable..?" #AffordableHousing #WorkforceHousing #SupportiveHousing #SocialHousing Thx, Region of Waterloo for inviting Mark Richardson to speak at your #HomesForAll Summit 2024!
