We're excited to share the launch of Soundcheck: A Survey on Mental Health in the Canadian Music Industry, an initiative led by Revelios, SOCAN, and The Unison Fund to help better understand mental health challenges in the music industry. This survey is the first of its kind in Canada, seeking to collect valuable input from music professionals to better understand the mental health challenges we face. Your participation is crucial in helping to capture a comprehensive understanding of the current state of mental health and its associated factors in our community. Sharing your experiences, opinions, and concerns can help drive meaningful change and contribute to a healthier, more supportive music industry. The survey is completely anonymous, and your voice will help improve mental health literacy, promote well-being, and shift the culture toward destigmatizing mental health in the music industry. As Creative Culture Advisor at Music Canada, I was so proud to organize and curate an Advocacy Day at our offices last week. It was an opportunity for five of our partner organizations to come together with members of the Music Canada team for a day of thought leadership in Public Affairs.  Music Canada was thrilled to host discussions with leaders of ADVANCE ,the Indigenous Music Office, Women In Music Canada, MusiCounts and The Unison Fund.

Last week we visited the Anthem Entertainment office in Toronto for a Mental Health Town Hall with Catherine Harrison, M.Psych., P.C.C. of Revelios. We talked about the mental health continuum, explored tips for embracing challenges, and identified the essentials of creating a mental health toolkit & building a supportive community.   Unison’s Mental Health Town Halls are a safe place for organizations in the music industry to learn about mental health wellness and can be launchpads for meaningful conversations in the workplace. If you’re interested in exploring a town hall for your team, reach out to us at info@unisonfund.ca
