The University of Guelph’s School of Environmental Design and Rural Development within the Ontario Agricultural College renewed its Memorandum of Understanding with the Gateway Centre of Excellence in Rural Health. Over the past 11 years, this partnership has supported rural health research and community development, and this next chapter promises to further #UofG’s impact on rural health and well-being!

Today, I had the pleasure of meeting with some of the Gateway Centre of Excellence in Rural Health team as we renewed our Memorandum of Understanding with the School of Environmental Design and Rural Development (SEDRD). For the past 11 years, this partnership has made a meaningful impact on rural health research and community development. Gateway’s commitment to improving the health and well-being of rural communities through innovative research and outreach has aligned perfectly with SEDRD’s mission to enhance rural resilience. Our collaboration has advanced knowledge and provided practical solutions that benefit our communities. #UofGResearch | A #UofG study examined whether doodling and fidgeting, typically seen as signs of inattention, could improve learning by reducing boredom and enhancing memory retention and found the opposite was true. They found that traditional note-taking improves memory recall, attention and reduces mind-wandering, while doodling and fidgeting do not enhance these outcomes. Learn more: https://uoguel.ph/m1gej
