Além de correr e caminhar, os participantes aproveitaram diversas atrações gratuitas, como massagens e áreas dedicadas às crianças e conheceram mais sobre a nossa empresa. Wow, what a day! Thank you, Sudbury! Last week, our Greater Sudbury operations hosted their Annual Open House at Dynamic Earth – and we couldn’t be more grateful to everyone who came out to connect with us! We had a fantastic time with over 900 community members, including more than 200 elementary school students, who got to experience the future of mining up close. From talking with Vale Base Metals employees, to watching mine rescue demonstrations, to seeing drone footage from an underground mine, there was something for everyone to enjoy and learn about. A Vale Metais Básicos segue apoiando e investindo no desenvolvimento das comunidades vizinhas de suas operações no Brasil. Em Canaã dos Carajás (Pará, Brasil), por exemplo, já assinamos contratos de repasse de recursos para o projeto de Esporte Zico 10, direcionado as crianças e adolescentes da Vila Bom Jesus, e outro para o projeto de agricultura familiar que vai beneficiar mais de 10 famílias da comunidade VP12. Até o final de 2024, a Vila Bom Jesus será contemplada com novos projetos voltados para o empreendedorismo feminino, informática e agricultura familiar. Além disso, receberá doações de computadores, kits de ergonomia e mesas para o laboratório do Atelier Fio de Ouro.

Last week, our Chief Sustainability and Corporate Affairs Officer, Emily Olson, represented Vale Base Metals at Climate Week NYC, sharing insights on key panels that addressed the future of sustainability in mining and the global energy transition. Emily participated in the high-profile panel “How CSOs are Shaping Global Action Plans to Deliver 2030 Goals,” organized by Concordia. She joined industry leaders, including Rohini Sengupta (United Airlines), Jason Weller (JBS), and Maya Hari (Terrascope), to discuss the private sector’s role in shaping robust, actionable climate strategies ahead of #COP29. 🌱🌍 In this panel, Emily discussed how Vale Base Metals is committed to being a leader in low-carbon mining. We’re driving forward with a clear ambition to reduce Scope 1 and 2 emissions by 33% by 2030 and achieve Net Zero by 2050. With over 93% of our electricity consumption already sourced from clean energy, we’re making significant strides toward a more sustainable, low-carbon future.  Emily also spoke at the panel “Multi-Dimensional Energy Transition – Electric Vehicles, Critical Minerals and Industrial Policy”, where she addressed how Vale Base Metals is adapting to the rapidly changing EV market. With demand for critical minerals on the rise, Emily emphasized how our integrated supply chain and partnerships with automakers are driving the secure and sustainable production of the metals vital to the energy transition. ⚡🔋 Thank you to all the participants for fostering crucial dialogue on climate action. We’re thrilled about this "scrum-believeable" initiative from our team in Clydach! 🏉✨ Clydach-based Vardre Rugby Club is officially open to the public - and Vale Base Metals is a proud sponsor! Phil Evans, Process Operator at Clydach Nickel Refinery and former club member, led this incredible initiative – personally renovating the space (a former laundry room) alongside a group of dedicated volunteers over a seven-month period. The Wynford Jones Lounge, named in honor of Wynford Jones, a 40-year Vardre Youth Rugby (he coached Phil in the early 90's!) is now a vibrant hub for youth players to socialize after matches, relax, play darts, listen to music, and watch sports. A huge thank you to all the volunteers and our fellow donors for making this project possible.
