#DidYouKnow: Welsh, Britain’s oldest language with a rich history spanning over 1400 years, was in decline for centuries – but now, more than a quarter of the popular of Wales can speak or use it? This figure increases amongst children, thanks to Welsh schools like Gellionnen Primary School. Located in Swansea -also home to our Clydach Nickel Refinery -Gellionnen is the only Welsh-speaking school in the area. In June, Vale’s Clydach Nickel Refinery proudly presented much-needed Pêl-droed (football) jerseys to Gellionnen. The entire school gathered for the presentation, which featured GM Darren Poland, Head Teacher Kevin Davies, and Ruby, the talented student who designed the winning jersey. ⚽🏅 Supporting our communities, our schools and the next generation is at the heart of what we do at Vale Base Metals. Together, we’re committed to fostering connections and making a positive impact in the communities in which we operate. #WeAreValeBaseMetals #TheMond #ClydachNickelRefinery #cymuned

Last month, Vale Base Metals took a significant step to bolster agricultural and livestock production in southeastern Para, signing relationship Plans with the communities of Santa Rita, PA União, and 4 Mil Metros, all neighbors to our Onça Puma complex. These plans will benefit 303 families in 2024 and 2025. The plans provide direct support for cocoa and dairy cattle activities, including Rural Technical Assistance, agricultural mechanization, and essential materials. Developed based on community feedback, these initiatives aim to enhance productivity while adhering to sustainable practices. 🐄🌴 Kilma Cunha, Director of Onça Puma Operations, highlighted the impact: “These agreements boost small producers’ techniques and strengthen community autonomy, promoting sustainable development for all.” By investing in these communities, we are not only supporting local agriculture but also fostering economic growth and sustainability. This initiative underscores our commitment to creating lasting positive impacts in the regions where we operate. Together, we are building a brighter future for Ourilândia do Norte and its neighboring communities. 🌟 #WeAreValeBaseMetals #CommunitySupport #EnergyTransitionMetals

#DidYouKnow: Indigenous Peoples' territories encompass 28% of the surface of the globe and contain 11% of the world’s forests? They are the keepers of knowledge and traditions that help safeguard some of the most biodiverse areas of our planet. On August 9th we commemorate the International Day of the World’s Indigenous Peoples, which highlights the importance of recognizing and empowering Indigenous communities worldwide. This year, the chosen theme is “Protecting the Rights of Indigenous Peoples in Voluntary Isolation and Initial Contact”. Mining activities are intrinsically reliant on land where mineral resources are available. At Vale Base Metals, it is imperative that our mining operations are conducted with utmost respect for the rights of communities, including Indigenous Peoples and Traditional Communities living in or utilizing these territories for their traditional practices. Our approach is aimed at managing the risks and impacts from our activities on these territories while respecting cultural diversity and the rights of these communities. This includes recognizing their unique relationship with the land, encompassing not only physical, social and economic aspects but also cultural and spiritual ones. We are thrilled to announce that our Port Colborne Refinery in Ontario has successfully participated in the Responsible Minerals Initiative (RMI) Responsible Minerals Assurance Process (RMAP) and is now the first RMI certified cobalt refinery in Canada! ✅   Here are some key highlights of the RMAP: 🔍 Independent Assessment: RMAP uses independent third-party assessments to evaluate the management systems and sourcing practices of smelters and refiners, validating their conformance with RMAP standards. 📜 Standards Compliance: The RMAP standards meet the requirements of the OECD Due Diligence Guidance, the EU Regulation 2017/821, and the U.S. Dodd-Frank Act. 📢 Public Listings: Smelters and refiners that participate in the RMAP are publicly listed, allowing downstream companies to make informed sourcing decisions.   Port Colborne Refinery’s conformance speaks to the hard work and effort from the corporate and site teams. We are proud of our employees for their preparations ahead of the assessment, and for the exemplary standards and quality they demand at Port Colborne Refinery. 🏆 By prioritizing our commitment to responsible sourcing endeavours, Vale Base Metals is ensuring that our LME registered brands are products of choice for our customers and that we serve as an example in the responsible mineral supply chain.   #EnergyTransitionMetals #WeAreValeBaseMetals #ResponsibleMining

On July 17th, Vale Base Metals celebrated the signing of an agreement to begin operations at the Stobie Mine open pit in the City of Greater Sudbury, Ontario, Canada. The agreement fosters collaboration between Thiess Mining, the United Steelworkers (USW) - (L6500 and L2020), and two local Indigenous businesses—Z'gamok Construction LP (ZCLP) and Aki-eh Dibinwewziwin Limited Partnership (ADLP) —to extract critical minerals from the property. This groundbreaking contract aligns with our strategy to increase production from near-surface deposits and involves the direct participation of two very important groups—First Nation peoples and the United Steelworkers. We are proud to work with partners who share our commitment to sustainable mining practices, to move forward successfully and transform the future, together. #Transformtogether #Criticalminerals
