Sometimes saying "𝘆𝗲𝘀" can lead you to places you'd never expect. Last week my friend kindly offered me tickets to a conference that I wouldn’t normally attend. While there, I met Rivanna an incredibly kind individual and leader who shared amazing professional tidbits and advice. She was so kind that she invite me out to an event the following evening with a community she’s a part of called WNORTH — a network dedicated to bridging the gender power gap by elevating women in leadership through events that are designed to foster and develop your career. Last night, I had the pleasure of attending my first WNORTH event—a summer networking soirée. WNORTH is an incredible membership network dedicated to closing the gender power gap by elevating women into leadership roles. From the moment I arrived, I could feel the difference from a typical networking event. With a small, intimate group of around 30 women, we delved into "The Power of Connections: Evolution of Professional Friendships." The panel shared so many valuable insights about the importance of cultivating genuine friendships at work and within our networks, rather than simply engaging in strategic networking. It was a reminder that the true value of these connections lies in the exchange of ideas, knowledge, and collaboration—not just the pursuit of sales metrics. One of the standout moments for me was when someone mentioned the power of "looking for small moments that create possibilities." It’s about recognizing that the little things we do for each other today could open doors tomorrow, often in ways we can't predict. That's the beauty of a reciprocal network—being there for one another when the time is right. #womeninleadership #networking #community

I've reinvented my career more times than I can count. In high school, I was an athlete dreaming about the World Cup. But an injury sidelined me before nationals, and I never played soccer again. In university, I was an artist studying site-specific installation sculpture. But turns out the art world isn't the real world. In my 20's and mid 30's, I was a marketing storyteller, an ops and HR guru, a production manager, a sales aficionado, and a distribution strategist in media, tech and hospitality. More recently, I've been a student, an intrapreneur, an entrepreneur, and an advocate for more sustainable ways of leading (and living). And now in my late 30's, I'm in the greatest reinvention of all - the bringing together of all my past selves and stories into one. I can't wait to tell more of my career story at WNORTH's member roundtable on September 19th to normalize that no career path is linear and that life is full of big leaps driven by curiosity, impact and growth.
