As summer winds down and the seasons change, it's a bittersweet goodbye to another fantastic camp season! Today marks the last day of summer adventure across our Day Camps, as well as Wanakita and we want to extend a heartfelt THANK YOU to our amazing staff for their dedication, passion, and hard work in making this summer unforgettable. We were honoured to welcome M.P. Dan Muys to YMCA Camp Chippewa today! During his visit, he experienced our majestic surroundings at Christie Lake Conversation Area, explored the opportunities for accessibility at our camp and the way we enable access for all to traditional camp activities regardless of ability. He also learned from staff about the meaningful job opportunities we provide for young people. Thank you, M.P. Muys, for recognizing our camp's importance and its positive impact on our community!

Meet K. Like many 18–30-year-olds, K worries about their future... a lot. So, when they heard about Y Mind through another community organization, they filled out the form on the website and were soon contacted by the Y Mind team. Y Mind is a free, seven-week mental wellness program that offers support for those who are experiencing mild to moderate anxiety or stress. Although the Y doesn’t typically offer food services for the Men’s Residence, with the help of donors across the city, after the fire the YMCA was able to provide meals for the men temporarily staying in the fitness centre. This would not have been possible without meals donated by Second Helpings Catering, Carmens Group , Mission Services of Hamilton, Hamilton Food Share, Sweet Paradise Bakery, The Salvation Army in Canada, Good Shepherd Hamilton & Toronto, Zarkys Fine Foods, Fortinos Supermarket Ltd Ancaster, and more. On Monday, July 22, just before 12:30 in the afternoon, a fire broke out on the third floor of the Men’s Residence at the Hamilton Downtown Family YMCA. What we thought would be ae quick evacuation for the men in our residence has quickly turned into a month. Jason was relaxing in his room with his headphones on listening to music. “I just happened to look over at my door and saw a puff of smoke coming through the crack...it was black, like a shadow almost.
