  • Today is Persons Day, a day to celebrate the historic decision that recognized women as "persons" under Canadian law and granted them the right to vote in federal elections. This was a milestone for women's rights and equality in Canada, but there is still a long way to go. According to Statistics Canada, women still face significant challenges in terms of income, employment, education, health, safety and representation. For example, women earn on average 87 cents for every dollar earned by men, and they are more likely to experience violence and harassment at home and at work. Women also make up only 29% of the seats in the House of Commons and 38% of senior management positions in the private sector. This cause deserves our support and advocacy for more opportunities and resources for women in Canada. It is a fact that when women succeed, we all succeed. We invite you to join us in celebrating Persons Day and honoring the achievements and contributions of women in our country. Together, we can make a difference and create a more inclusive and equitable society for everyone. ISPE Canada Women in Pharma ISPE Canada Affiliate #personsday #womensrights

  • August 26 marks Women's Equality Day. This day serves as a reminder for Canadians to continually strive for the advancement of women's rights and gender equality within the nation. Here are a few facts about the gender gap in Canada today: - Women make 89c for every $1 men make in Canada - 16% of women and gender diverse people with a physical disability report being fairly paid compared to their peers - $150B in GDP growth if Canada accelerated progress on gender equality Evidence shows that diverse organizations outperform their peers and with such significant benefits to our economy why do these gaps still exist? Both pay equity and increasing the representation of women in higher paying jobs need to be addressed to close the gap. Is your company taking steps to make a difference? #WomensEqualityDay #WomeninSTEM #ISPECanadaWomeninPharma #ISPE
