The European space telescope 🔭 Euclid released today the first detailed catalogue of more than 380'000 galaxies. This represents just 0.4% of the total number of galaxies of similar resolution expected to be imaged over Euclid’s lifetime. The space observatory is controlled by a computer 💻 from Beyond Gravity and protected by thermal insulation from us. Heave ho 💪 Biomass has quite a mass. The weight of the Biomass forest satellite 🛰️ is 1250 kilograms. In a clean room at the Kourou spaceport, the European Earth observation satellite is being prepared for launch at the end of April on board a Vega-C rocket 🚀 We have supplied many products for the satellite and the rocket. The Biomass satellite is e.g. protected from the cold and heat in space by thermal protection from Austria. And during the rocket launch and the flight into space, the satellite is also protected by technology from us: the payload fairing for the rocket shields the satellite from external influences. The Loft satellite YAM-8 is healthy and communicating 👏 Beyond Gravity supplied to Loft Orbital the Power Control & Distribution Unit for the Longbow satellite 🛰️ Our electronic product provides mission-critical power supply capabilities and in-orbit configurability for The Hub. The Hub carries all payloads of a Loft Orbital’s satellite and provides an independent electrical, computing and communication environment. Beyond Gravity also provided X-band data downlink antennas to Loft Orbital.
YAM-8 is talking! We have successfully made contact with the satellite and have begun sending commands and downlinking telemetry. All systems are nominal. We’ll continue commissioning YAM-8 over the next several weeks and begin commissioning customer payloads shortly thereafter – stay tuned for more updates soon! A huge thank you to Exolaunch and SpaceX for a flawless deployment. Our world-class launch partners continue to set our missions up for success. And lastly, congratulations to all of the Lofties who contributed to delivering for our customers and deploying another piece of Loft hardware into low Earth orbit. #SpaceMadeSimple

Taking astronauts to the Moon 🌑 👩🚀 NASA's Orion spacecraft for Artemis II (the first crewed mission to the Moon in over 50 years) is now equipped with its solar arrays. Orion's solar wings will be aligned at the Sun ☀️ by our solar array drive mechanisms from our Zurich facility. Orion's four solar arrays are essential for powering the crewed spacecraft on the journey to the Moon and back. Each of the seven-meter-long solar arrays is attached to ESA's European Service Module. The solar arrays can rotate on two axes to remain aligned with the sun, maximizing energy production. During Artemis I, the European Space Agency - ESA European Service Module's solar arrays produced 15% more power than originally expected. Watch the video of Orion’s solar arrays moving to capture maximum sunlight during Artemis I 👇 To learn more about the solar wings installation of Orion, visit the NASA - National Aeronautics and Space Administration blog 👉 https://lnkd.in/deBTkbvn

As the number of satellites 🛰️ in space is increasing dramatically, a completely new approach & way of working in satellite manufacturing is required. Yesterday, Markus Borsand shared examples from Beyond Gravity how we are rethinking space manufacturing based on industrialization, standardization and automation. He spoke at the Satellite show in Washington DC 🚀

Moon or Mars? Why not Mars' moon? 😀 The European planetary defense spacecraft Hera 🛰️ took this stunning image of Mars and Deimos (a moon of Mars). Hera is on its way to an asteroid system. On the way, it passed by at Mars and Deimos. The van-sized Hera spacecraft is powered by a pair of our 5-meter long solar ☀️ array wings. Beyond Gravity is proud to support Japan's space ambitions! As a proud partner of Mitsubishi Heavy Industries, we supplied the payload fairing and the payload support structure for the H3 mission. After an exciting journey from our factory in Emmen, Switzerland, by truck and then by cargo ship across three different oceans, our fairing arrived safely in Tanegashima, Japan after two months - ready for its mission. We can't wait to see it fly! Stay tuned for more updates as we get closer to launch! 🚀✨ #BeyondGravity #H3Rocket #SpaceExploration
