Day 1 at #BIC2024 so far: Conference chairs Oya Tagit and Simone Schuerle welcomed all participants to Muttenz and introduced the topic of #biointerfaces! Falko Schlottig, director of the Hochschule für Life Sciences FHNW, highlighted why the Basel cluster is the best place in Europe to conduct R&D collaborations in biotech. He tipped his hat to Marcus Textor, the father of this event, who we are honoured to have with us. Then, alphorn trio the Alpine Sisters played a traditional song followed by a funkier tune, which perfectly illustrated both Swiss customs and the open, international spirit of our country. Keynote, invited and contributed talks on #mRNA followed. Now we are getting into the #biomaterials session!

Yesterday we kicked off #BIC2024 with the pre-conference seminar for early-career scientists. Participants started the day by learning about the state-of-the-art in #mRNAtherapeutics and #immunedisease interfaces from the conference's keynote speakers. Then, participants visited the Novartis pavillon and viewed the exhibition The Wonders of Medicine. A big thank you to the whole team at Novartis, who is a diamond sponsor of the event, for the opportunity to check out this very cool exhibit. Last stop was restaurant and brewery Volta Bräu, where participants got to know each other in a convivial setting. We warmly thank Roche and BÜHLMANN Laboratories AG for sponsoring the seminar dinner. Thanks to Sina Saxer, Rina Tetaj and Dogukan Güctemur for the seamless organization. #seminar #exhibit #networking #earlycareerscientist
