The inaugural Asia Climate Tech Venture Fair was a huge success! The Asian investment community came out in force, hungry to work together to support promising startups, co-invest, and build impactful companies tackling climate change. Here are some key takeaways from the event: 💰 Asia is an indispensable part of the net zero solution (50% of renewable power and fuel supply and 30% of NBS/nickel/lithium potential), but realizing this potential requires significant investment ($3.5-5tn annual green investment by 2030). 🚌 Asia has leapfrogged the rest of the globe when it comes to EVs. But SE Asia is a very complex environment, especially when you factor in the differences of B2B vs. B2C. 📦 Both corporates and investors are keen to do sustainable logistics well, do it together and do it responsibly. The challenge is finding a way to seamlessly integrate with existing processes. While Sustainable Aviation Fuel (SAF) remains in sharp focus when it comes to aviation decarbonization, another sub-sector of aviation could move much more quickly: airports. “The low-hanging fruit of aviation decarbonization is not in the air, it’s on the ground,” says Emerald energy Partner Christoph W. Frei. ✈ Frei was recently named to the climate advisory council of Vancouver International Airport, as his expertise is key as regards electrification of the ground equipment that airport managers use to facilitate airplanes as they taxi, take off and land.
