With our holistic vision, we create value for generations.
Info
In 1973 Francesco Enea founded a company specializing in garden decorations. Later in 1993, Enzo Enea took over his father's business and gradually built it into the leading company in landscape architecture. Today, Enea is established in Switzerland and across the globe. With our landscape architecture we create value for generations. In our design, we promote the fusion of outdoor and indoor spaces, the creative intertwining of the spirit of the architecture with its surroundings. We call our philosophy Outside In. Our award-winning firm is recognized for its ability to create complex designs and installations of private gardens and terraces, hotels, and resorts, as well as corporate gardens, public parks, and golf courses. We operate in all climate zones. The unique strength of the company lies in its capacity to offer the client a complete in-house service package, including the total realization and implementation of a project. Besides our landscape architecture and construction teams, Enea comprises also an interior design studio, a showroom for outdoor furniture, a concept store for indoor furniture and a carpenter’s workshop. The firm ‘s 240 employees come from 25 countries and bring to Enea a global perspective in landscape architecture and design. Apart from the Swiss headquarter in Rapperswil-Jona, Enea has affiliates in New York, Miami, Milan, and Zurich. The project close to the heart of Enzo Enea, CEO, is the world's unique Enea Tree Museum in Rapperswil-Jona. More than 50 trees saved from felling are on display and visitors are raised in awareness of the human interaction with nature. The open-air museum, created in 2010, shows how landscape, botany, architecture, art, and design can be connected in an integrative manner.

From Basel to Zurich to Venice, the art intervention "Arena for a Tree" has found its way and will now occupy its final place at the Enea Tree Museum. This work by Klaus Littmann is presented as a gift from the Kulturstiftung Basel H. Geiger to Enzo Enea's Tree Museum, ensuring that "Arena for a Tree" remains accessible to the public, providing space for various activities that convey the value of trees and nature in dialogue with people. For centuries, trees have been symbols of life and spiritual strength. The "Arena for a Tree" has emerged as a seed from Klaus Littmann's temporary art intervention "FOR FOREST - The Unending Attraction of Nature. While the focus of FOR FOREST was on 299 trees, the "Arena for a Tree" centers on a single tree. These two pioneering projects were presented, sending a strong message for environmental awareness and sustainable urban development. The Enea Tree Museum is the ideal location for this: since its opening in 2010, landscape architect and art collector Enzo Enea has raised awareness of the relationship between art and nature. By saving trees, Enea makes a powerful statement for a more conscious approach to nature. New Sculptures in the Enea Tree Museum🌳 💚 "Gorilla Family" by Jürgen Drescher We are delighted to welcome a new addition to Jürgen Drescher’s impressive gorilla family - welcome, Baby Gorilla. The third aluminium sand-cast sculpture is intended to complement the trees in encouraging people to think about how society treats the environment, animals and nature. A central theme for Jürgen Drescher is the critical questioning of the methods of economic expansion. His life-size gorillas stand for the threat, as well as exploitation of nature and its resources for purely economic interests. He examines man's relationship to the animal world by recreating their bodies in sketches and drawings, after which the metal sand casts are made. 💚 «July 2nd» by Michele Gabriele For Enea, the work represents ‘wounded nature’ and shows how we treat nature's creatures and nature itself with reckless disregard and leave them wounded. It serves as a reminder to rethink our behaviour and treat our environment more responsibly. The Italian artist Michele Gabriele lives and works in Milan. His ‘science fiction’-inspired aesthetic allows the viewer to interpret the story of the sculpture with their own imagination. 💚 «Lümmel» by Gregor Hildebrandt An oversized chess piece of the pawn is the largest bronze sculpture in his series. ‘The Pawn’ is both an extremely essential chess piece, marking the beginning of every game, and one of the most underestimated and sacrificed pieces. In the context of the Tree Museum, this reflects the dichotomy of nature's role. The oversized format of the bronze sculpture reflects this importance by giving the piece more space and weight than is usually attributed to it. Through the long-term project Art in the Tree Museum, the traditional connection between art and nature is enjoying a revival. The precise choreography of the relationship between art, landscape, and flora creates a unique and fascinating sense of space and has a positive influence on the microclimate. This passion-driven project continually attracts especially distinguished representatives of the international contemporary art scene. Their sculptures engender in a myriad of facets and forms impressive and memorable sensations of space, color, and shape – the sculptures in the Tree Museum stand erect set in contrast to the pre-Alpine horizon and lend an arresting and striking tone to the precisely curated garden landscape. Arena for a Tree will find its permanent home in the Enea Tree Museum ARENA FOR A TREE Venice An art intervention by Klaus Littmann Arsenale Nord, Venice 16 April – 31 July 2024 Presented by Kulturstiftung Basel H. Geiger I KBH.G in collaboration with European Cultural Centre On 1 August 2024, during the blue hour, the ARENA FOR A TREE art intervention concluded after three and a half months. The return trip on the water against the unique backdrop of Venice marked the end of the project. The public had the opportunity to watch this fascinating spectacle from the mainland. The journey – pushed by a barge – from the historic Arsenal North to the port of Marghera took around three hours. The pontoon on which the wooden “Arena for a Tree” stands measures 21 by 21 metres – the art installation with the three bald cypresses in its centre weighs 50 tonnes. The arena’s final location is in the tree museum of Enzo Enea, laid out in a 75,000 square metre park near the Obersee part of Lake Zurich in Rapperswil-Jona, Switzerland. This means that the “Arena for a Tree” will remain open to the public, offering space for the presentation of further trees of the future. The three bald cypresses will put down new roots outside the pontoon and may even recall their appearance in Venice a hundred years from now. Another year with Art Basel in Basel and another Enea's powerful statement on climate change in the heart of the art world. Climate change is altering our living environment, as shifting climate zones affect vegetation. This year's natural installation CLIMATE NOMADS made this development tangible. It addresses the current ecological challenges of our time, raises awareness of developments, and draws attention to themes such as climate-resilience, biodiversity, and sustainability. In Europe, we are facing rising temperatures, heatwaves, as well as heavy rain and flooding. This year's plant selection reflects these developments and presents climate-resilient trees such as Scots Pine, Persian Ironwood, Cork Oak and others that will shape the landscape of the future. The primary cause of climate change is increased CO2 emissions, which are human-induced. Trees are natural powerhouses and help regulate these CO2 emissions, lower temperatures, bind water, and purify the air. The installation CLIMATE NOMADS presents new approaches to redefine the relationship between humans and nature in the future. #ArtBasel #Sustainability #ClimateChange #SustainableLandscapeDesign #LandscapeArchitecture #EneaLandscapeArchitecture

Enea at Art Basel in Basel 2024🌳 Continuing the partnership with #ArtBasel, Enea will once again present a nature installation at the world's most important art fair. CLIMATE NOMADS – a multisensorial nature installation at Art Basel in Basel 2024. CLIMATE NOMADS creates a space for relaxation and exchange, embedded in the celebration of art. An exclusive look at sustainable landscape and garden design shows how people, nature and art come together under the theme of “Resilience” in the face of climate change. Enea's multisensorial installation reflects the global shift in climate zones and the migration of trees, plants and animals, which is triggered by global warming, among other things.
