Germany's charging infrastructure has a problem – ADAC's latest findings  (Battery buffer storage is the solution 🔋) The latest ADAC report reveals concerning gaps in the charging infrastructure across German highway rest stops. Only a few rest stops offer sufficient fast-charging options, with many others failing to meet the required 150 kW output or offering too few charging stations. This poses a significant challenge for e-mobility, especially during peak travel seasons. These insights align with the points raised by Dr. Sebastian Heinz, CEO of High Performance Battery Holding AG and member of the BEM | Bundesverband eMobilität e.V., during the recent Parliamentary Dialogue. Dr. Heinz emphasized the strategic importance of integrating energy storage systems (buffer storage) into the charging infrastructure. Implementing these systems at rest stops can address many of the bottlenecks highlighted by the ADAC. They would help ensure high charging speeds, enhance the charging experience for EV drivers, smooth peak loads and help avoid grid overload. The ADAC's findings make it clear: Efficient charging infrastructure is no longer just a bonus — it is a necessity to support the transition to a greener and smarter mobility future in Germany.
