We were thrilled to see young people engage and interact with the results of the third edition of the Misk Foundation Global Youth Index, unveiled in avant-première at #MGF24. The importance of young people in value creation was evident throughout the forum, highlighted by inspiring stories from young talents already thinking outside the box. Among the most compelling stories were those of young innovators developing new technologies for sustainable energy, young women breaking stereotypes in the gaming industry, and young researchers pushing boundaries at the technological frontier of space exploration. The potential of young people resonated through the conference halls! Stay tuned for the full Global Youth Index results and report in 2025. We hope it will inspire action and spark creative solutions for young people worldwide. As Bill Gates emphasized in his MGF speech, research can drive transformative action. The #COP16 conference in Cali wrapped up this past week, becoming a milestone for biodiversity conservation, drawing global leaders to Colombia under the United Nations Convention on Biological Diversity. Attending COP16 has given us a firsthand view of the critical dialogues driving the Global Biodiversity Framework (GBF), which includes ambitious goals like conserving 30% of the planet by 2030. This target underscores the urgency of our work, given that biodiversity loss threatens ecosystems essential to human survival and economic resilience. Colombia, as host, exemplified the importance of biodiversity: it is the second-most biodiverse country globally—and per square kilometer, the most biodiverse. With over 56,000 species, this natural wealth highlights why we must protect biodiversity, as more than half of the world's GDP—$44 trillion, according to the World Economic Forum—is moderately or highly dependent on nature and its services. In its Blue Zone, we've witnessed impactful policymaker dialogues on biodiversity finance and policy frameworks; meanwhile, the Green Zone invites public engagement through exhibitions and cultural activities. UN Secretary-General António Guterres emphasized integrating biodiversity commitments with SDGs, with a goal to mobilize $20 billion annually in public financing by 2025 for biodiversity preservation initiatives. The Navigator covers 50 countries across 10 pillars, from their digital capabilities and infrastructure to digital innovation and industry transformation, from the role of digital for work and productivity to health and education.
