As IOGP celebrates its 50th anniversary this year, Upstream's Russell McCulley recently spoke to IOGP’s CEO Graham Henley about this important milestone and what’s next for the organization.   Graham expressed his admiration for the achievements of the IOGP team, emphasising the crucial support from its membership. Since becoming CEO, he has witnessed firsthand how tirelessly members, colleagues and staff work to ensure the industry remains the safest, most responsible, sustainable, and efficient it can be.   Graham spoke about IOGP’s roots in safety. Founded in 1974, IOGP has focused on making the upstream industry safer by sharing best practices and standardising procedures. While IOGP does not claim sole credit for the industry’s improved safety performance, it takes pride in the expertise it has contributed. Graham highlighted that it is this deep technical expertise spanning five decades that makes IOGP special.   Looking ahead, he aims to leverage this technical prowess to help members and the industry in decarbonising. Acknowledging the significant changes the sector has already undergone, he noted that there is still more to be done. IOGP is working closely with its members to chart a path forward, ensuring that oil and gas production, for as long as it is needed, is conducted in the safest, most environmentally responsible, sustainable, and efficient manner.   Readers can explore more from Graham's conversation with Russell and are encouraged to share their thoughts on the discussion below.   https://lnkd.in/ekdQy74d

📣 We are pleased to announce the release of a new IOGP position statement, written by the Decommissioning Committee.  Habitat retention using decommissioned offshore structures. IOGP shares the global ambition to address biodiversity loss in the framework of the UN Convention on Biological Diversity. When offshore oil and gas structures come to the end of their useful life, owners, operators, regulatory authorities, in consultation with other stakeholders, decide on the best option for the future of the structures. The question is whether to completely or partially remove them to shore, to decommission in-situ, or to move to a different location at sea. This brief paper outlines IOGP's position supporting alternatives to full removal of decommissioned infrastructure.    Click here to download: https://lnkd.in/eyMJhxgY #Decommissioning #UN #HabitatRetention

We are pleased to announce the release of IOGP’s annual process safety event data. The International Association of Oil & Gas Producers (IOGP) has been collecting safety incident data from its Member Companies globally since 1985. The data collected are entered into the IOGP safety database, which is the largest database of safety performance in the exploration and production (E&P) industry. The principal purpose of the data collection and analysis is to record the global safety performance of the contributing IOGP Member Companies on an annual basis. The submission of data is voluntary and is not mandated by IOGP Membership. The annual reports provide trend analysis, benchmarking, and the identification of areas and activities on which efforts should be focused to bring about the greatest improvements in performance. The 2023 process safety data reports consist of three documents: IOGP Report 2023p - Safety performance indicators – process safety events – 2023 data https://lnkd.in/g5QbD-tY IOGP Report 2023pfh - Safety performance indicators –Process safety events – 2023 data - Tier 1 PSE, fatal incident, and high potential event reports https://lnkd.in/gDMysdbG IOGP Report 2023pe - Safety performance indicators – process safety events – 2023 data https://lnkd.in/g6crdkNW All of these are available from the IOGP Publications Library. #oilandgas #processsafety #safetyperformanceindicators

IOGP’s first Asia Pacific webinar on Life Saving Rules attract over 200 attendees, from over 20 countries, including Malaysia, Indonesia, Australia, Oman, and the Philippines. Dr. Ismaeel Husain, Senior Manager Health and Safety, introduced the IOGP Life-Saving Rules (LSRs), the history of their development and their significance. This was followed by presentations from bp, on implementation of IOGP Life-Saving Rules, and from Pertamina, on its demo room facility for Corporate Life-Saving Rules trainings. Some key takeaways from the event are that: - LSRs help eliminate fatalities in our industry and beyond - LSRs are driven by data from our industry to serve our industry - They are few, clear, simple, task-level, proactive, actionable, observable and for the workers - Organizations that wish to adopt and implement LSRs can make use of IOGP-developed resources such as webpages, apps, quizzes, videos, posters, presentations and workcards. The webinar is available on-demand at https://lnkd.in/eQ6h2CVK
