Empowering faith leaders in tackling issues such as child sexual abuse, radicalization, and human trafficking.

Info

The Interfaith Alliance for Safer Communities is a network of advocates from civil society and faith leaders. Our goal is to empower faith leaders to work for the safety and security of our communities, tackling issues such as child sexual abuse, extremism and radicalization, and human trafficking. We aim to facilitate the building of bridges between faiths, NGOs and experts in various domains. We are conscious of the importance of empowering faith leaders, both at the institutional and grass-root levels, with knowledge and to mobilize them to play an active role in community safety.

  • The recently concluded G20 Interfaith Forum in Brasilia brought together diverse faith leaders, senior policymakers, and experts from around the world to address some of the most pressing issues facing our global communities today. Over three days, we engaged in meaningful dialogues and collaborative workshops that focused on promoting peace, fostering social cohesion, and protecting the rights and well-being of vulnerable communities, especially children. Key outcomes from the forum include strengthened interfaith collaboration, the development of actionable policy recommendations, and a renewed commitment to action aimed at creating safer, more inclusive communities. The forum also facilitated valuable knowledge exchange on best practices for addressing global challenges such as child exploitation, poverty, conflict and displacement, and environmental sustainability. It has been a true pleasure collaborating with the G20 Interfaith Forum Association, whose dedication and expertise have been invaluable in making this event a success. As the G20 Presidency transitions from Brazil to South Africa, we look forward to strengthening our partnership further as we continue working towards safeguarding vulnerable communities and ensuring a brighter future for children everywhere. Thank you to all who participated and contributed to these meaningful discussions. Together, we can make a lasting difference! Hamad Khatir Diana Gerson W. • We are excited to share that the GNRC Forum Pre-Meeting in Panama City, held in partnership with Arigatou International, was a resounding success! This gathering brought together diverse faith leaders, experts, and advocates, all united in our shared mission to protect children. Through meaningful dialogue and collaborative efforts, we explored innovative strategies and strengthened our collective resolve to safeguard the rights and dignity of children everywhere. We heard from participants from the GNRC 5th Forum, held in Panama, on how the outcomes from the forum helped to drive meaningful action on the ground to protect children. This event is a crucial milestone as we build momentum towards the GNRC 6th Forum in Abu Dhabi this November, where we will continue to champion the cause of child protection on a global scale. We are deeply grateful to all participants and partners who contributed to this important initiative. Together, we can build a more hopeful world for children. What a Panel! LEAVE NO ONE BEHIND. Caring for the vulnerable. Presented on why THE CHILD IS CALLING NOW, at the @IF20org here in Brasilia. The many challenges children now face call for urgent actions. Answering this CALL from children is an imperative. It is an ethical imperative that takes us to Abu Dhabi in November, 2024. Called on the G20 leaders to implement policies and laws they have passed to protect all children, especially those in armed conflict — numbering a staggering 460 a million today. • Thank you to everyone who participated in our parallel event, "Empowering Families For The Future: The Role of Faith Communities," held during #CSW68. The event was organized in collaboration with Latter Day Saints Charities and the United Church of Christ UN Office. We are thrilled to have engaged representatives from faith-based organizations, government, international bodies, and civil society in meaningful discussions around the intersection of faith, gender equality, and poverty alleviation. Through the lens of SDG 16 and focusing on SDGs 1, 5, 11, and 17, we explored concrete actions to build a more inclusive and sustainable world. Key themes and questions discussed included: - Challenges Facing Families and Communities: We delved into the root causes of poverty and its impact on vulnerable groups, particularly women and girls. - The Role of Family Empowerment: We examined how empowering families can be a catalyst for poverty alleviation and resilience-building. - Faith Communities in Poverty Alleviation: Participants shared insights on how religious organizations can contribute to community development and family empowerment. - Opportunities for Building an Inclusive Society: We identified existing opportunities as a foundation for creating a safer and more sustainable future, with a focus on child-centered policies. The discussions were rich with diverse perspectives and actionable recommendations. A special thanks to our speakers, Ryan Koch, Diana Gerson, Irene Anena, and Lori Mortensen for their valuable input and collaboration. Together, we are paving the way for a world where every family can thrive. Stay tuned for updates on our next steps and opportunities to continue this important dialogue. Let's keep working together towards a brighter future! ACT Alliance United Church of Christ #EmpoweringFamilies #GenderEquality #SDGs #FaithCommunities #PovertyAlleviation #InclusiveSociety
