In our journey to make brain data accessible and impactful, collaborations like the one with Julia Scott’s lab at Santa Clara University are milestones! The #IDUNGuardian is empowering researchers to dive deeper into understanding the brain's real-time responses to various interventions. 🔍 Julia Scott’s Experience: "The IDUN Guardian, being physically offset from the modulation devices, changed the way we run our studies. Instead of intermittently pausing the stimulation to get clean recordings, we can now collect a continuous and clean EEG dataset during the experiment. This literally enables us to answer questions we were not able to prior to bringing the IDUN system into the lab." Through the IDUN Guardian, Julia’s team can now confidently capture raw data during demanding protocols like the Montreal Imaging Stress Test, perform eyes-open/eyes-closed validations, and more! This unlocks new insights into spectral and neural network changes, bringing innovative possibilities for their workload studies and stress management interventions. 🚨Are you curious to see how different stimuli affect the brain? Are you developing solutions that have an effect on mental states and want to quantify this? 🚨 In a prior post, we shared the information about Roxiva Innovations LTD’s visit to our office, where we explored the potential of combining #IDUNGuardians's brain-sensing technology with Roxiva's RX1 light and sound entrainment device. Now, we're thrilled to share a closer look at the insights we gained from the session! 🔬 Testing & Observations Using the IDUN Guardian, we monitored participants’ brainwaves before, during, and after RX1 sessions. Calibration of the IDUN Guardian allowed us to capture baseline brain activity, setting a foundation for detecting brainwave changes in response to RX1’s light frequency. Key Hypothesis Our goal was to confirm if the Guardian could detect EEG responses that correlate with the RX1's effects on mental states, specifically observing an increase in alpha activity associated with relaxation. 🧠 EEG Insights Each session revealed distinct patterns: Alpha activity: Increased during light therapy, indicating a state of relaxation, validating RX1’s potential as a mental relaxation tool. Theta and Gamma: Unique fluctuations were observed based on participants' subjective experiences, from deep relaxation to heightened alertness. Conclusion The EEG signals from the RX1 sessions clearly showed a noticeable response. Moreover, these responses aligned with the participants’ subjective experiences. For example, if a participant reported finding the session particularly relaxing, this was reflected in the Z-Score graph of the frequency bands, showcasing the strong correlation between perceived and measured relaxation states. #EEG #neurotech #neuromodulation

🌐 Bringing Brain-Computer Interfaces (BCIs) into the Classroom! Last semester we collaborated with University of Applied Sciences of the Grisons, where we introduced students to the world of Brain-Computer Interfaces and Neuroscience. This hands-on educational program went beyond theory: students started by mastering the basics, then advanced to building simple applications with the #IDUNGuardian, and finally topped it off with an inspiring hackathon, where we saw some truly amazing projects come to life! Here’s what Professor Corsin Capol from Fachhochschule Graubünden had to say about the experience: “The course provided an incredible opportunity for students to dive into the world of neuroscience and brain-computer interfaces (BCIs). From the very basics of neuroscience and signal processing to application development, students were able to immediately apply what they learned using the IDUN Guardian. The program offered a holistic experience, blending theory and hands-on practice, which culminated in an exciting hackathon. I highly recommend this course to both students and professors alike.
