🎓 A new step towards increasing gender balance across leadership roles in Snow Sports! The first cohort of the Women Lead Sports program has officially graduated, marking a significant step in FIS’ commitment to empowering women in leadership roles. 🚀 Twenty participants—sports and technical administrators from various NSAs and disciplines, including Para sport—were selected for the program. They were joined by four FIS staff members, including Athletes’ Commission representatives, ensuring diverse perspectives were represented. Developed by Gabriela Mueller Mendoza, the program equips women in sports governance with essential skills and networks to drive meaningful change. 🗨️ "As the Lead Coach in the Women Lead Sports Master Program, working with the first cohort of impactful women was both a privilege and a pleasure. These remarkable leaders brought creativity, courage, and determination. 📝 Judging has always sparked debate in sports, especially in disciplines where subjective scores shape the results. Within the FIS family, Freestyle Skiing – including Moguls and Aerials – Snowboard and Freeski Park & Pipe, and Ski Jumping are key examples. For Moguls and Aerials, the 2024/25 season marks the third year of implementing remote judging in the World Cup series. As of the start of this season, the system employs advanced video technology from VOGO. 🗨️ “The concept was introduced to leverage technology solutions, primarily to reduce costs for event organizers. With a panel of up to seven scoring judges in Moguls – six for Dual Moguls and five for Aerials – and a head judge, the costs of travel, accommodation, and logistics are significant. On January 19, FIS and Special Olympics celebrated ❄️ World Snow Day by extending their partnership, which has been in place since 2016, with the intention of supporting each other’s missions. 🤝 Key highlights of the partnership include the continued development of resources and best practices for introducing and coaching individuals in snow sports. 🗨️ "This partnership with the Special Olympics perfectly embodies the core mission of FIS: to promote and support snow sports in a way that ensures they are accessible to everyone, regardless of location or ability," said FIS President Johan Eliasch. The partnership is already in action as Special Olympics athletes join the FIS World Snow Day celebrations by participating in FIS’s video challenge, “How the Best Enjoy the Snow", open until January 26. One year of the FIS Development and Membership HUB 🎊 FIS is delighted to celebrate what has been a successful opening year of the innovative tool that brings us closer than ever to our members. The HUB allows us to directly inform Ski Associations of all relevant information throughout active seasons and beyond. Breaking barriers in winter sports leadership 🌟 Nevena Ignjatovic has made history as the first female president of the Serbia Ski Association!
