A milestone moment for Para Cross-Country at Ski-VM Trondheim 2025 !❄️ For the first time, Para Cross-Country was integrated into the FIS Nordic World Ski Championships, uniting athletes on the same stage—an achievement celebrated, but not without challenges. 🏅 “We were able to introduce a whole new community to the world of Para Cross-Country Skiing.” – Dani Aravich (USA) 👏 “We rarely get to overlap with Para, and I really enjoyed cheering the athletes on and connecting with them off the snow. I would love to see this again in the future.” – Julia Kern, OLY (USA) While the integration was a major step forward, athletes and organizers recognize areas for improvement, particularly in scheduling, accessibility, and logistics. As FIS Sport & Event Director Sandra Spitz noted: “We are aware that we have different starting points with different infrastructures at host cities and venues, creating various challenges. However, we are committed to working hard, step by step, to facilitate equal opportunities.” Read more about this landmark event and the road ahead ⬇️ https://lnkd.in/eUEpfpJb #Trondheim2025 #FISParaCrossCountry #FISCrossCountry #FISParaSnowSports #Inclusivity #InclusiveSport

🚀 The "Training the Female Athlete" webinar series is off to a fantastic start! The first two sessions set the stage for insightful discussions with leading experts: 📌 Bias related to sex differences in sport and performance with Sophia Nimphius, PhD, GAICD 🗨️ "I had the chance to present on the multiple forms of bias in research design, analysis and interpretation, particularly when studies claim to examine sex differences in sport. More importantly, we discussed how to reframe research to produce insights that are actionable and truly relevant to female athletes." – Sophia Nimphius 📌 Injury risk and individualized load management in female athletes with Prof. Anne Hecksteden With 138 participants and an engaging Q&A, this session provided key takeaways on recovery, training load, and the role of cycle tracking in optimizing performance. 🗨️ "Effective recovery and load management are all about training at the limit—without going too far. Individualized analytics allow to extract valid information from the stream of monitoring data. On this basis athletes and coaches can fine-tune training for optimal performance. While these methods work for both genders, basic cycle tracking can be a meaningful addition for female athletes." – Prof. Anne Hecksteden 🔜 Next session: 10 April, 16:00 CET Topic: Breast health and breast support 📩 Don’t miss out—sign up here: https://lnkd.in/eXAjJTGQ 📸 FIS Freestyle World Cup - Moguls - Val St. Come (CAN) - 2025 @rudi.garmisch / @fisfreestyle #FIS #SnowSports #TrainingTheFemaleAthlete #Webinar #FemaleAthletes #SportsScience

Today marks the first World Day for Glaciers 🌨️ and tomorrow the World Water Day 💧. 🌍 These days serve as a reminder that, while life may seem to go on as usual, our planet is undergoing profound physical changes. These changes will have a significant impact on our future as human beings. The 2025 global campaign for World Day for Glaciers and World Water Day draws attention to the many ways glacier changes are affecting downstream communities and ecosystems. It also emphasizes the urgent need for water-related adaptation strategies in areas impacted by shrinking or disappearing glaciers. This includes fostering greater transboundary cooperation 🌐, increasing community engagement 🏞️, and continuing support for ambitious reductions in fossil fuel consumption 🌱. Ice, snow, and water have always been a part of my life ❄️. I named my daughter Bianca (White), inspired by the colour that fills the eyes of a child born in the Val di Fiemme 🏔️. I work for FIS - The International Ski and Snowboard Federation 🎿, dedicating myself every day to the best of my abilities because I cannot imagine a future without the white snow, forever tied to the blue ice. The partnerships we've established with the World Meteorological Organization 🌦️ and the European Space Agency - ESA 🌌, and those to come, demonstrate how different sectors can come together to pursue a common goal and that Sport is a perfect platform to raise awareness and inspire immediate action on these critical issues. Through sports, we can engage global audiences, drive impactful change, and lead by example in promoting sustainability for our planet. 🌍💪 #worldwaterday #worldglaciersday

Yellow cards and reprimands to keep racers in check🚦 Most FIS disciplines involve either racing against the clock ⏱️ or posting the best individual score 💯. There are exceptions, though, with Ski Cross, Snowboard Cross, and Cross-Country Skiing seeing athletes go head-to-head. To avoid accidents or contestants gaining an unfair advantage, those disciplines employ sanctioning systems. In Ski Cross and Snowboard Cross, these use yellow and red cards like those familiar to football followers. In Cross-Country Skiing, there are reprimands which work in a similar way. Read on to find out which offences result in punishments, and what the consequences are for athletes who break the rules ⬇️ #SportIntegrity #FairPlay #FISSkiCross #FISSnowboardCross #FISCrossCountry #YellowCards
