Bringing the cruise industry closer to local communities is key for us at MSC Cruises, reinforcing shared commitments to sustainability, a passion for the wider maritime industry, and the promotion of the cruise sector.   Last week it was great to work in collaboration with the Port Authority of Santa Cruz de Tenerife and CLIA in Europe to launch an education programme first ‘“¡Todos a bordo!”, held at the educational institution, C.E.I.P Miguel Pintor, for primary school students.   Through interactive and engaging activities, children were introduced to the many professional roles onboard a cruise ship while embracing teamwork, communication, and respect for others.   Thank you to the Port Authority of Santa Cruz de Tenerife, CLIA in Europe Europe and the amazing MSC Orchestra crew involved in pulling this together and setting a valuable precedent for wider community engagement. We look forward to more initiatives and collaboration in the future!

To cut emissions, you first need to measure them ⚓ MSC Cruises teamed up with VTT to measure methane emissions and support sustainable shipping! Here’s what we achieved together: ✅ Measured real-time methane emissions aboard MSC Cruises' fleet ✅ Provided verified data to support future-proof regulations ✅ Developed a consistent method for emissions measurement during normal operation “We’re happy to continue the journey together with VTT for the benefit of the entire industry,” says Michele Francioni, Chief Energy Transition Officer at MSC Cruises. Our Executive Chairman Pierfrancesco Vago called for harmonised policies to support maritime decarbonization at scale as he joined political and industry leaders at the European Summit of #CLIACruiseWeek in the port city of Rotterdam last week. In positive discussions, including with European Commission Commissioner for Sustainable Transport and Tourism Apostolos Tzitzikostas, Pierfrancesco Vago also reiterated the industry’s demand for bio-fuels to be made available at the scale and cost needed for the entire maritime industry to reach its emissions targets. Meanwhile, our CEO, Gianni Onorato joined a high-level discussion on the 'Future of Tourism in Europe', and called for stakeholders to work closely together to ensure tourism can remain a positive force. He stated that where we have worked closely with local authorities—such as in Dubrovnik—we have successfully managed tourism flows and addressed local concerns, ensuring a good balance between welcoming visitors and local communities.

Inspired by International Women’s Day we hosted women’s networking events in our Geneva and London offices this week, an opportunity for people to get together for an insightful and inspiring discussion with our women leaders and colleagues. Beyond their impressive careers, they shared personal anecdotes and experiences, breaking down formal barriers and fostering an authentic exchange. They spoke candidly about the challenges they’ve faced, the opportunities they’ve embraced, and the key moments that shaped their paths—offering motivation and guidance to all in attendance. The events were an opportunity to build meaningful connections, exchange ideas and suggestions, and celebrate the strength and talent of women across our organisation. A huge thank you to our inspiring leaders and colleagues for sharing their stories, and to everyone who joined us in making these events a success! #MSCCruises #IWD
