#DidYouKnow that in 1965 Omya was the first company to supply ground calcium carbonate fillers to the paper industry? More environmentally friendly than traditional kaolin clay, it enabled the production of acid-free papers, which will last for hundreds of years, compared with acid papers which can break down after only 30 years. Just one example of how #ThinkingofTomorrow changes things for the better.

At Omya, one of the key elements of our #sustainability culture is our people, without whom there is no future. We protect our colleagues, customers, contractors and every other visitor to Omya sites from the moment they arrive to the moment they leave. We want to make sure that everyone goes home safely at the end of the working day. Our site #safety experts provide safety orientation, emergency exit guides, pre-task risk review assessments, and appropriate personal protective equipment, as well as work permits for the job. Regular annual safety reviews look at trends and result in targeted safety campaigns to address risk areas. This year we’ve focused on hand safety and driver safety, raising awareness of the risks and helping people understand how to avoid injury at work. Omya is always #ThinkingofTomorrow for a safe, sustainable future.

We have once again been #ThinkingofTomorrow and the importance of the ongoing training and development for our 9000 colleagues. Building on the foundation of the #Omya Global Leadership Program, our three-day Train the Trainer course equips our people to train others in a range of key topics such as negotiation or communication skills. The group of 16 people has recently completed this 11 module course, becoming fully certified to deliver the same material to our teams across the world. This approach enhances our internal training capabilities and helps maintain global standards. #Leadership #Training #EmployeeDevelopment

The ShowLab takes visitors on an interactive journey through our contributions to innovation, functionality and sustainability in the 12 industries we support. As you can imagine, there is a lot to say after 140 years of #ThinkingofTomorrow! But it’s not all about past achievements, we also look at the challenges of the future and how #Omya can help solve them. The Omya ShowLab offers customers, partners and colleagues an insight into our approach to innovation and helps them understand how natural minerals and specialty materials make a difference now and in the future. A big thank you to our external partners and internal contributors who worked so hard to make the ShowLab a reality.

#DidYouKnow that every year over 2 billion tonnes of waste are produced globally? Much of this waste litters our environment or finds its way into our oceans. Every year, Omya colleagues around the world take part in #WorldCleanUpDay to help reduce the damage caused by littering and mismanaged waste. Our pictures show colleagues from different countries working together to clean up in their local communities. #ThinkingofTomorrow means putting right the mistakes of yesterday as well as doing better for the future. #Sustainability

#NEWS This weekend we celebrated the company’s 140 year anniversary, and 130 years of global distribution, with two open days at our Egerkingen research and innovation campus in Switzerland. On Friday, more than 400 colleagues took the time to visit the site, many for the first time, and enjoyed touring our laboratories and learning from our technical experts about our long history of #ThinkingofTomorrow. This was followed on Saturday by a community open day, where we welcomed local residents, businesses and politicians. Everyone is always amazed by the many ways in which Omya’s solutions make life better. These open days provided a great opportunity to show how much has been achieved since #Omya was founded in 1884. We are looking forward to the next 140 years!

We had an inspiring time at our "Work Methodology & Time Management" training session last Thursday! Thanks to BTA Business Training Academy GmbH, colleagues from across the business learned how to set priorities and plan efficiently. This practical workshop introduced a range of techniques to help people achieve their goals and maximize productivity. Our team learned how to save time, enhance self-management, and handle disturbances better. Often, it's the small changes in how we organize our work that make the biggest impact. #Omya offers everyone the opportunity to continually boost their skills with the Omya Academy, supported by hands on, practical courses to reinforce the learning.
