The future of fuel isnāt a choiceāitās a challenge. And ports are at the centre of it. With #FuelEU regulations ramping up and the energy transition accelerating, itās no surprise that last weekās event drew a full house keen to tackle one of the industryās biggest questions: How do we future-proof ports for green fuels? A panel of maritime experts - Gƶran Eriksson, CEO, Port of Gothenburg (PoG); Therese JƤllbrink, Head of Renewable Energy, Port of Gothenburg; Patrik Kinnerfors, CEO, Scandinavian Tank Storage; and Christoffer Lillhage, Director Business Development & Energy transition, Scandinavian Tank Storage - shed light on how multifuel infrastructure, onshore power supply (OPS), and storage solutions will shape the ports of tomorrow. Key takeaways included: ā” The future is multifuel ā biofuels, methanol, LNG, bio-LNG, and ongoing research into hydrogen and ammonia š FuelEU as a catalyst ā how the new regulations will drive port transformation š The power challenge ā electricity demand at ports is set to triple in the next two decades š¢ A front-runner in OPS ā PoG is leading the charge for container, passenger, and even tanker onshore power supply š Storage companies: the fixed giants ā unlike ships, storage tanks canāt move, making timing the transition to new fuels a strategic challenge ā³ Converting storage isnāt the hard partāgetting the timing right is. The industry can adapt fuel tanks for biofuels and e-fuels, but the real challenge? Aligning the investment with market demand. A huge thank you to The Port of Gothenburg and SCANDINAVIAN TANK STORAGE AB; and to our brilliant speakers, for their proactive approach to the fuel transition. āšā---āšā Looking ahead... š Join us on Thursday, 10th April for our AGM, which will be followed by a presentation by Lloyd's Register. š Thursday, 10th April 2025 š AGM starts at 17:30, followed by an interactive presentation at 19:00 with drinks and finger food š La MĆØre Royaume, 4 place Simon-Goulard 1201, Geneva š« This event is being kindly sponsored by Lloyd's Register ā”ļø For members only: Register to attend our AGM: https://lnkd.in/enAX-MQH ā”ļø Register for the Lloydās Register event (places are limited, please only register if you intend to attend): https://lnkd.in/ec8quebn We look forward to seeing you there! š· š¤š
