Nobody's perfect, so what? 🌟 Nobody is perfect - and yes, sometimes we live inconsistently or not as climate friendly as we want to. But that shouldn't stop us from taking action! Imperfect advocacy means standing up for what you love, even if you're not perfect. Every action counts - whether it's getting politically active, talking to your friends, or reducing your carbon footprint. Change happens when lots of people take action - not when a few people do everything right. 👉 What does imperfect advocacy mean to you? 💚 👉🏼 Ausführlicher in unserem Blog. Link in Bio. We Are Moving🏃🏻♀️🚴🏼 Sometimes, it feels like we’re standing still in the fight against the climate crisis. In reality, we are constantly moving—sometimes slower, sometimes faster. Today, let’s look back at some encouraging progress from recent years and prove that change is possible: 🔍 Climate protection in focus: Today, we (mostly) no longer need to debate whether climate change is real. Instead, the discussion centers on how we can mitigate it. ☀️ Renewable energy on the rise: Solar and wind energy have become the most affordable energy sources worldwide, surpassing all forecasts. The development of solar power, in particular, is advancing rapidly—the global capacity for solar power generation is now 40 times greater than in 2010. In comparison, wind power capacity has increased sixfold over the same period. ♻️ Repairing instead of discarding: More and more companies and consumers are embracing the circular economy. In recent years, the EU has taken significant steps with its Right to Repair directive to reduce electronic waste and promote sustainable consumption. 🌱 New directions in nutrition: The variety of alternative food products is booming! If you want to diversify your diet and consume less meat or dairy, supermarkets now offer more options than ever. These are just a few examples that show: Change is happening. We are constantly moving—and yes, sometimes a few steps backward, because change is often not linear. But by focusing on positive developments, we can see that change is possible. Snowfall has decreased by a third in the last 100 years❄️ A recent study published in the International Journal of Climatology reveals that snowfall across the Alps has decreased by an average of 34% between 1920 and 2020. A sharp decline in snowfall has been observed since the 1980s, coinciding with a significant rise in temperatures. This increase in temperature leads to more precipitation falling as rain rather than snow. What else did the study find? - The decrease in snowfall is not uniform across the Alps. Snowfall has decreased less in the northern Alps than in the south-western parts. - The reduction in snowfall is most pronounced at elevations below 2000 meters. As members of the outdoor community, we witness these changes firsthand. The decline in snowfall not only affects recreational activities but also important livelihoods. Let's collaborate to protect the Alpine regions. Engaging in sustainable practices, supporting climate research, and advocating for environmental policies are steps we can take together. Let's work together to protect the places we all love so much🏔️💙 📸 @luke.imaged #climatechange #snow #protectwhatyoulove #passiontopurpose #protectourwintersswitzerland

Hold on to Hope ✨ 2024 was a year full of challenges: Melting glaciers, floods and record heatwaves - the climate crisis kept us all busy. But the global political situation was also often challenging. In times of uncertainty, it is not always easy to keep faith in the good. This is precisely why we have launched the ‘Hold on to Hope’ newsletter series. Because if we lose hope, what do we have left? Hope and action are inseparable. Without hope, we lack the motivation to act, and without action, hope remains merely a wishful dream. That’s why we say: Hold on to Hope - together we can create change! Are you with us? 💚 📸 Jon Guler, Julia Wunsch #holdontohope #climateaction #passiontopurpose #protectourwintersswitzerland

🏔️One third of SAC huts at risk due to climate change🏔️ Climate change is having a massive impact on SAC huts. A study from last autumn shows: More than a third of the 152 huts could become unstable due to melting permafrost. In addition, there are growing challenges such as rock falls, decreasing glaciers and increasingly difficult water supplies. The environment around the huts is also changing: today, just under a third of the huts are surrounded by glaciers - by 2050, only 10% will be, and by the end of the century, none will be. 😢 The necessary structural adaptations represent a major financial challenge for the SAC. The SAC Hut Fund is not sufficient to cover the costs, so in June 2024 the National Council passed a postulate calling for concrete financial support to adapt the huts to climate change. An important step towards preserving this cultural heritage. 🏔️ For the outdoor community, it’s not just about preserving the huts, it’s about preserving access to the Alps. The future of these places depends on our actions today - which is why we are advocating for stronger climate action to preserve the places we love for future generations.💚 📸 Julia Wunsch #climateaction #passiontopurpose #protectourwintersswitzerland

Yesterday was World Snow Day ❄️ What can we say? We absolutely love snow—not just because there’s no better feeling than carving turns in fresh pow, walking through stunning white landscapes, or experiencing the absolute silence as snow falls… but also because snow is an essential resource for our planet. Snow cools the Earth, provides fresh water, and plays a vital role in keeping our ecosystems balanced. Snow is one of the reasons this entire journey with POW began, leading to so much more. Let’s keep fighting for the places we love🏔️💙 📸 Niklas Eschenmoser, Melody Sky, Bernard van Dierendonck, Jon Guler, Julia Wunsch, Aaron Schwartz #worldsnowday #climateaction #passiontopurpose #protectourwintersswitzerland
