California is working to push forward numerous #AIbills - but with significant political pushback. This isn’t surprising. AI laws are complex, slow-moving, and risk stalling innovation while failing to keep pace with rapid technological advancements. A more effective path? Strong, widely adopted standards like ISO 42001. Standards provide clarity, consistency, and a practical way for organizations to ensure AI is accountable, auditable, and safe. They evolve alongside technology, supporting responsible AI development without staling progress. Real AI oversight isn’t about waiting for laws to catch up. It’s about proving responsibility today. What're your thoughts on #standards vs #regulations in the US?

At the Artificial Intelligence Action Summit in Paris, U.S. VP JD Vance delivered a bold message: To lead in #AI, the U.S. needs to champion #innovation, not stifle it with heavy #regulations. Vance argued that strong #standards -- rather than rigid rules -- are the key to responsible and transparent AI development. His vision? Foster an environment where companies can push boundaries while maintaining public trust. He warned that overregulation could hinder progress, comparing AI's potential to of the steam engine. The new administration's approach contrasts with more restrictive policies emerging elsewhere, raising the question: Can flexible standards effectively balance innovation and safety? Take a look at our recent blog for more insights. https://lnkd.in/g5VR5XWr

#California isn't waiting around when it comes to #AIregulation -- and neither should you. Assembly member Rebecca Bauer-Kahan plans to reintroduce legislation to tackle algorithmic discrimination, with clearer definitions and a stronger focus on government enforcement. Plus, the #CPPA is proposing new rules that would require risk assessments for AI-driven decisions and extensive profiling, especially when personal data is involved. What should companies do now? 1. #Audit your AI systems for potential bias 2. Put #bias mitigation strategies in place 3. Maintain robust #oversight mechanisms within key decision-making processes Bottom line: waiting for regulations to hit isn't the smart move. Proactive risk management isn't just about compliance -- it's about building AI systems you can trust.
