It feels like just yesterday that Raj called me in late 2020 and asked if I could plan a conference. We're helping Popset build a better Instagram on Solana. Today, creators have to turn themselves into billboards to monetize. Build a following, show them ads, and profit. Followers get little in return, and the top 1% earn all the profits, leaving little for the long tail of creators. Popset's feed resembles Instagram, but with a twist: users can "collect" their friends' photos. Popset lets creators of any size monetize immediately via micropayments. Their biggest supporters can choose to pay to collect certain photos. Why would they do that? Models like Patreon and OnlyFans have shown that fans will pay to support their favorite creators. With Popset, they get a virtual "receipt" showing exactly when their support started. Creators can then reward their biggest fans with exclusive content, access, and experiences. This creates a more mutually beneficial relationship for all. “Solana is fundamentally capped and won’t reach internet scale” “Solana is just a flash-in-the-pan memecoin ecosystem.” And previously, “Solana will die with FTX.” This year’s Breakpoint shows what’s really happening and why Solana is attracting so many users and activity. In reality, Solana is the most efficient architecture for syncing global state. Today, Solana frequently processes more transactions than all other blockchains combined. Even on current hardware, it’s nowhere near its limit.
