Great reminder of the better health benefits #SelfCareLiteracy brings to individuals across their life course. From alleviating the pressures faced by health systems to reducing the burden #NCDs we need health information that is accessible, legible and trusted.
This #HealthLiteracyMonth I've been reminded of all the opportunities we've had this year to promote the benefits better #SelfCareLiteracy can bring. From panel discussions to progress reports the lesson is clear that we need everyone onboard if we are to unlock the value that comes from a healthy and informed society. We were delighted to join the ‘Partners Meeting on Self-Care’ Symposium organized by the World Health Organization Department of Sexual and Reproductive Health and Research, in collaboration with Business Council for International Understanding (BCIU) on the fringes of the World Health Summit in Berlin #WHS2024. We led a panel discussion on Partnerships, focusing on the multi-sectoral collaboration needed to drive #selfcare forward to advance #UHC, highlighting the work of the United for Self-Care Coalition. Key takeaways from the session included the need to: ✅ Expand self-care guidelines ✅ Combat misinformation ✅ Leverage data and technology to improve access to self-care and health literacy ✅ Engage in urgent, collective action to meet the SDGs and public health goals, particularly in low- and middle- income countries A huge thank you to our panelists for contributing to such an interactive discussion and to all participants for their valuable insights. austen el-osta Smitha Sadasivan Luís Lourenço Juliette Edzeame, PMP Amelle Liazoghli, MD Together, let’s act to provide better self-care for all!
