𝑺𝒖𝒔𝒕𝒂𝒊𝒏𝒂𝒃𝒍𝒆 𝑺𝒐𝒍𝒖𝒕𝒊𝒐𝒏𝒔 𝒇𝒐𝒓 𝑷𝒉𝒂𝒓𝒎𝒂 𝑪𝒐𝒍𝒅 𝑪𝒉𝒂𝒊𝒏 𝑪𝒐𝒏𝒕𝒂𝒊𝒏𝒆𝒓𝒔: 𝑰𝒔 𝑰𝒕 𝑷𝒐𝒔𝒔𝒊𝒃𝒍𝒆? Choosing the right container solution is crucial for reducing Scope 3 emissions and meeting sustainability targets in the pharmaceutical cold chain industry. Traditional active and passive containers each come with their own challenges. Active containers often lead to high energy consumption and CO2 emissions. Passive containers, frequently single-use, contribute to landfill waste and lack the reliability needed for precise temperature control, potentially resulting in the loss of valuable pharmaceuticals. SkyCell’s #hybridcontainers offer a superior solution by combining the strengths of both traditional options. They recharge like active containers and are reusable but without the need for plugging in or manual intervention. For instance, our reusable 1500X hybrid container saves an average of 50% CO2 - equivalent to 8 tons of CO2e peruse - while effectively protecting the integrity of its contents. For example, when 20 SkyCell hybrid containers were shipped from Europe to Asia, our customer saved 230 tons of CO2e compared to using traditional active containers on the same journey. This reduction is equivalent to the emissions produced by 55 gasoline-powered passenger vehicles over the course of a year. With their exceptional reliability, reduced volumetric weight, and significant CO2e reductions throughout the logistics lifecycle—including reverse logistics—hybrid containers stand out as the optimal choice for environmentally conscious pharmaceutical transport.
